Bryan Quirk
Bryan Quirk (born 26 December 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League. He was recruited from Morwell Football Club in the then Latrobe Valley Football League. He was Collingwood fan as a child. Quirk made his debut for the Carlton Football Club in Round 3, 1965. He kicked 3 goals on debut and was a forward pocket he had to retire in 1975 due to injury. At the age of 29 after eleven years with the club. After his retirement from playing, he spent many years as a coach. He coached Maryborough in 1976 and 1977. He returned to Carlton in 1978 and coached its Under-19s to back-to-back premierships in 1978 and 1979 (assisted by Brian Buckley), and later coached the Carlton reserves for three seasons. Gippsland Football League
The Gippsland League (formerly known as the West Gippsland Latrobe Football League) is an Australian rules football and netball league in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. It is considered the only AFL Victoria major league in Gippsland. Oakleigh Football Club
Oakleigh Football Club, nicknamed the Devils, was an Australian rules football club from Oakleigh which played in the VFA from 1929 until 1994. Oakleigh wore purple guernseys with a gold monogram thus giving them their original nickname the Purple and Golds. History The club was formed in 1891 and after having success in the Melbourne Districts Association (premierships in 1907, 1924, & 1928), they were one of two teams admitted into the VFA in 1929, the other being Sandringham. With former Essendon star player and coach, and future Fitzroy and Carlton coach Frank Maher in charge they won a premiership in just their second season with a 9-point win over Northcote in a very spiteful game, 9.6 (60) to 7.9 (51). Brian Buckley (footballer, Born 1935)
Brian Alan Buckley (3 August 1935 – 2 August 2014) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family He was the son of Fitzroy footballer Jack Buckley. His brother, John Buckley, played with Coburg in the VFA. He married Beverley Love. They had three children: a daughter, Sharyn, and two sons, Mark and Stephen, each of whom later played at Carlton. Football Carlton (VFL) Recruited from Coburg as a 16-year-old, Buckley began his career in the Carlton under-19s in 1951. He made his debut with the First XVII on 4 August 1956 – in place of the selected back pocket, Vin English – in the round 16 match against Collingwood, which Carlton won 12.12 (84) to 9.17 (71).
