Brutal Doom
''Brutal Doom'' is a game mod for the 1993 first-person shooter ''Doom'' created by the Brazilian developer Sergeant Mark IV (Marcos Abenante). It adds numerous gameplay elements and graphical effects. The mod has been in development since 2010, and continues to release new updates. Gameplay ''Brutal Doom'' adds many gameplay features, such as blood splattering, allied Marines, an updated particle system, the ability to drive vehicles such as tanks, stealth kills, headshots, and a host of "''Mortal Kombat''-esque fatality animations". Enemy AI has been revamped, with most enemies gaining new attacks and behaviors. The mod includes new and updated guns, such as a flamethrower, the demonic Unmaker, assault shotguns, new rifle types, a grenade launcher and even allows the player to equip enemy weapons in the form of Revenant missiles or a Mancubus' flame cannon. Source Port
A source port is a software project based on the source code of a game engine that allows the game to be played on operating systems or computing platforms with which the game was not originally compatible. Description Source ports are often created by fans after the original developer hands over the maintenance support for a game by releasing its source code to the public (see List of commercial video games with later released source code). The term was coined after the release of the source code to Doom. Due to copyright issues concerning the sound library used by the original DOS version, id Software released only the source code to the Linux version of the game. Since the majority of Doom players were DOS users the first step for a fan project was to ''port'' the Linux ''source'' code to DOS. ''Bloom'' (sometimes stylized as ''BlooM'') is a Mod (video gaming), mod for id Software's video game ''Doom II.'' It is designed to merge all of the enemies, weapons and environment elements of Monolith Productions' ''Blood (video game), Blood'' and ''Doom II'', creating a Crossover (fiction), crossover of both game universes. It was developed by Spain, Spanish indie studio Bloom Team and released via Mod DB on October 31, 2021. Gameplay The mod features a new episode "The Way of Doomed Flesh" which includes a total of nine levels, an original story, Cutscene, cutscenes and a new soundtrack composed by ASCIIM0V and Buio Mondo. ''Doom'' WAD is the default format of package files for the video game ''Doom'' and its sequel '' Doom II: Hell on Earth'', that contain sprites, levels, and game data. WAD stands for ''Where's All the Data?'' Immediately after its release in 1993, ''Doom'' attracted a sizeable following of players who created their own mods for WAD files—packages containing new levels or graphics—and played a vital part in spawning the mod-making culture which is now commonplace for first-person shooter games. Mod DB is a website that focuses on general video game modding. It was founded in 2002 by Scott "INtense!" Reismanis. As of September 2015, the Mod DB site has received over 604 million views, has more than 12,500 modifications registered, and has hosted more than 108 million downloads. A spin-off website, Indie DB, was launched in 2010 and focuses on indie games and news. History Scott Reismanis, a website developer from Melbourne, Australia, first pursued web development as a hobby, creating two websites dedicated to video games.
