Hayfork Creek
Hayfork Creek is a tributary of the South Fork Trinity River in Northern California in the United States. At over long, it is the river's longest tributary and is one of the southernmost streams in the Klamath Basin. It winds through a generally steep and narrow course north, then west through the forested Klamath Mountains, but also passes through the Hayfork and Hyampom Valleys, which are the primary agricultural regions of Trinity County. Human habitation in the basin goes back more than 5,000 years. The watershed of the creek was originally inhabited by the Wintu people. The first Euro-Americans arrived in the late 1820s, but the basin was not developed until the 1850s with the onset of the California Gold Rush. The fertile soils and mild climate of the river valley led to it becoming the most prosperous agricultural area of the county. Leverett is a town in Franklin County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 1,865 as of the 2020 census. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The Town of Leverett is located on the traditional lands of the Pennacook and the Pocomtuc Nations. Leverett is one of the southernmost towns of Franklin County, located west of Shutesbury and Wendell, east of Sunderland, south of Montague, and north of Amherst. The Sierra Aguilada is a mountain range in southwest Catron County, New Mexico on the eastern perimeter of Arizona's White Mountains. The Mogollon Mountains of New Mexico lie just east, with a south-flowing section of the San Francisco River separating them. The river then turns west, forming the southern border of the Sierra Aguilada, and continues to eventually intercept the Gila River after traversing northwest of the Big Lue Mountains of Arizona. Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary last named Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex (also called ''Brushy'') was a large maximum-security prison in the town of Petros in Morgan County, Tennessee, operated by the Tennessee Department of Correction. It was established in 1896 and operated until 2009. The grounds of the prison are now included in part of the Barkley Marathons. Brushy Peak Regional Preserve is a regional park that is part of the East Bay Regional Parks (EBRPD) and the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) systems. It is located in unincorporated land in Alameda County, just north of Livermore, California. Geography Entering the Park The preserve's southern boundary is across the street from Springtown, a section of Livermore that is north of the I-580. You can reach the park from Livermore by taking Vasco Road into Springtown, turning right onto Northfront Road (Altamont Pass Road), and then turning left onto Laughlin Road. As you drive north along Laughlin Road, you can see Brushy Peak Preserve on the right and housing developments to the left.
