Bruno Gazzotti
Bruno Gazzotti (born 16 September 1970) is a Belgian comic book artist. He has drawn several popular comic book series, such as ''Soda'' and ''Seuls''. Childhood Gazzotti's Italian grandfather had been a miner, and his father lived in Belgium from a very early age. Both his parents were sport instructors, and comic enthusiasts. As a child, Gazzotti was himself very interested in Franco-Belgian comics such as Tintin. In 1988, he was hired by Spirou's editor in chief Patrick Pinchart, who, after seeing the portfolio, commissioned a few illustrations. He had previously studied at Institut Saint Luc in Liège. Early career Shortly after, he drew Le petit Spirou ( from the 20th strip onwards ), with writers Janry and Tome. Comic Book
A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. "Comic Cuts" was a British comic published from 1890 to 1953. It was preceded by "Ally Sloper's Half Holiday" (1884) which is notable for its use of sequential cartoons to unfold narrative. These British comics existed alongside of the popular lurid "Penny dreadfuls" (such as "Spring-heeled Jack"), boys' " Story papers" and the humorous Punch (magazine) which was the first to use the term "cartoon" in its modern sense of a humorous drawing. Philippe Tome
Philippe Vandevelde, working under the pseudonym Tome (24 February 1957 – 5 October 2019), was a Belgian comics writer. He was known for collaborations with Janry on ''Spirou et Fantasio'' and ''Le Petit Spirou'', and with Luc Warnant and later Bruno Gazzotti on ''Soda''. He also collaborated with Ralph Meyer on ''Berceuse assassine'', and with Marc Hardy on ''Feux''. Earlier in his career he was an assistant-artist for Dupa. Biography Vandevelde was born in Brussels. An operation left him blind for a short while at the age of eight. His first experiences of comics were the ''Adventures of Tintin'' story ''King Ottokar's Sceptre'' and '' Corentin'' read aloud to him. Under the pseudonyms "Phil" and "Tom", he published his first illustrations and comics for the school magazine ''Buck'' (made by Thierry Groensteen) from 1972 to 1974. The Angoulême International Comics Festival (french: Festival international de la bande dessinée d'Angoulême) is the second largest comics festival in Europe after the Lucca Comics & Games in Italy, and the third biggest in the world after Lucca Comics & Games and the Comiket of Japan. Fabien Vehlmann
Fabien Vehlmann (born 30 January 1972) is a French comics writer best known for '' Green Manor'' and ''Seuls''. Yvan Delporte dubbed him "The René Goscinny of the third millennium". Biography Fabien Vehlmann, born in 1972 in Mont-de-Marsan, grew up in the Landes and the Savoie. He studied in Nantes. He started writing comics in 1996, but only got to work for '' Spirou'' magazine the next year, where he provided very short stories for the weekly summary of the magazine. Soon, some stories of a few pages followed, with artwork by a number of different artists, including Eric Maltaite and René Follet. His first recurring series was '' Green Manor'' with Denis Bodart. With Bruno Gazzotti he created ''Seuls''.
