Brunkollen is a mountain on the border of Dovre Municipality in Innlandet county and Oppdal Municipality in Trøndelag county in Norway. The tall mountain is located in the Dovrefjell mountains and inside the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park, about north of the village of Dombås and about northwest of the village of Hjerkinn. The mountain is surrounded by several other notable mountains including Tverrfjellet to the southeast, Einøvlingseggen and Skredahøin to the southwest, Snøhetta and Storstyggesvånåtinden to the west. Snøhetta is the highest mountain in the Dovrefjell mountain range in Norway. At , it is the highest mountain in Norway outside the Jotunheimen range, making it the 24th highest peak in Norway, based on a topographic prominence cutoff. Innlandet is a county in Norway. It was created on 1 January 2020 with the merger of the old counties of Oppland and Hedmark (the municipalities of Jevnaker and Lunner were transferred to the neighboring county of Viken on the same date). The new county has an area of , making it the second largest county in Norway after Troms og Finnmark county. is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Dovre region and the traditional district of Orkdalen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Oppdal. Skredahøin (also referred to as Skredho and Skredhøis) is a mountain in Lesja Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The tall mountain lies within Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park, about north of the village of Dombås. The mountain is surrounded by several other mountains including Storstyggesvånåtinden which is about to the north, Snøhetta which is about to the northeast, Einøvlingseggen which is about to the southeast, Mjogsjøoksli which is about to the southwest, and Mjogsjøhøi which is about to the west. Skredahøin lies in an active seismic region and hence experiences frequent earthquakes, including one on 24 March 2012 with a magnitude of 3.2 on the Ritcher Scale and its centre was away for the mountain. Dombås
is a village or small town in Dovre Municipality in northern Innlandet county, Norway. The village serves as the commercial centre for the upper Gudbrandsdalen valley. It lies at an important junction of roads with the European route E6 highway heading north and south connecting the cities of Oslo and Trondheim and the European route E136 highway heading west to Åndalsnes. The Dovrebanen and Raumabanen railway lines meet in the village at Dombås Station as well. Dombås Church is located in the village. Hjerkinn
Hjerkinn is a village in the municipality of Dovre in Innlandet county in Norway. The village is located in the Dovrefjell mountains, about northeast of Dombås and about northwest of the village of Folldal. It is one of the driest places in the country, with only annual precipitation in the 10-year period 1905-14. The railway station Hjerkinn Station is located on the Dovre Line, at an elevation of above mean sea level. The European route E6 highway also passes through the village. It is also served by a small airport. Until 1993 there was mining in the village by Folldal Gruver. The Norwegian military also has a camp at Hjerkinn.
