Brunei Cricket Team
The Brunei national cricket team was the team that represented the country of Brunei in international cricket. It was organised by the Brunei Darussalam National Cricket Association, which became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council in 1992. However, the association was expelled in 2015 (having been suspended in 2014), meaning the team's current status is unclear. Brunei played its first recorded match in 1983, but did not appear in an international game until the 1996 ACC Trophy. The side did not appear in another Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournament until 2004, but made regular appearances throughout the remainder of the decade. Brunei's last major tournament to date was the 2010 ACC Trophy Challenge in Thailand. Asian Cricket Council
The Asian Cricket Council also known as ACC is a cricket organisation which was established in 1983, to promote and develop the sport of cricket in Asia. Subordinate to the International Cricket Council, the council is the continent's regional administrative body, and currently consists of 26 member associations. Jay Shah is the current president of Asian Cricket Council. History The council was formed as the Asian Cricket Conference in New Delhi, India, on 19 September 1983, with the original members being Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. International Cricket
International cricket matches are played between teams representing their nations, normally organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The main forms are Test matches, One-Day matches and Twenty20 matches. 2006 ACC Trophy
The 2006 ACC Trophy was a cricket tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, taking place between 14 August and 26 August 2006. It gave associate and affiliate members of the Asian Cricket Council experience in international one-day cricket. This was the last tournament in which all teams played in the same tournament. After this tournament, the Asian Cricket Council decided to split the tournament into two divisions. The top ten teams would be promoted to the 2008 ACC Trophy Elite and the rest of the teams would be relegated to the 2009 ACC Trophy Challenge. The 2009 ACC Trophy Challenge was a cricket tournament in Chiang Mai, Thailand, taking place between 12 and 21 January 2009. It gave Associate and Affiliate members of the Asian Cricket Council experience of international one-day cricket and also formed part of the regional qualifications for the ICC World Cricket League. The top 2 teams were promoted to the ACC Trophy Elite Division. Bhutan also qualified for the WCL82010 Teams After the 2006 ACC Trophy a decision was made to split the tournament into two divisions. The placement of teams in these divisions was determined by the final rankings in the previous tournament. The top ten teams went into the 2008 ACC Trophy Elite with the remaining teams taking part in the 2009 ACC Trophy Challenge. Cricket In Brunei
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket.
