The Gaudí Awards ( ca, Premis Gaudí) are the main film awards of Catalonia, celebrated annually in Barcelona. The awards were established in 2009 by the Catalan Film Academy as a continuation and expansion of the Barcelona Cinema Awards (''Premis Barcelona de Cinema''), originally established in 2002. Merlí (TV Series)
''Merlí'' is a Spanish television series produced by the Catalan channel TV3 about a philosophy teacher of the same name who encourages students to think freely using philosophy. The series, created and written by Hector Lozano and directed by Eduard Cortés, premiered on 14 September 2015 in prime time and reached a share of 17.7% with 566,000 viewers. The second season of the series premiered on TV3 on 19 September 2016 and ended on 12 December 2016, and the series' third and final season began airing on 18 September 2017 and ended on 15 January 2018. Each episode is named after a different philosopher or school of thought. Influenced by films like ''Dead Poets Society'', ''Merlí'' attempts to bring philosophy to the public. 3/24 () is a Spanish Catalan-language free-to-air news and information network operated by Televisió de Catalunya (TVC). It was launched on 11 September 2003. History 3/24 was born on 11 September 2003 as an initiative of the Catalan public television to develop digital terrestrial television in Catalonia. However, a general lack of DVB-T set top boxes combined with slight public interest towards digital terrestrial television prompted TVC to simulcast in analogue. From its launch on 11 September 2003 until 12 June 2004, 3/24 was on air daily from 11p.m. till 8:30a.m.. The channel now operates as a regular full-time channel. Contents 3/24 devotes exclusively to live news and information, including news, traffic (morning), sports and stock markets from Bolsa de Barcelona. 16th Gaudí Awards
The 16th Gaudí Awards ceremony, presented by the Catalan Film Academy, will take place on 4 February 2024 at the complex in Barcelona. Background A record number of 81 productions were presented as candidates to the awards, of which a 40% had Catalan as the original language, with 13 candidates to the best fiction feature film in the Catalan language. Journalist-comedian and screenwriter-comedian (co-creators of the popular Catalan podcast ''Oye Polo'') were announced as the gala hosts in October 2023. In November 2023, filmmaker Rosa Vergés was announced as the recipient of the Gaudí Honorary Award. The nominations were read by actors Vicky Luengo and from the auditorium of Casa Milà, La Pedrera on 12 December 2023. Elena Martín Gimeno's ''Creatura'' led the nominations with fifteen, followed by David Trueba's ''Jokes & Cigarettes'' with thirteen.
