Arnhem–Leeuwarden Railway
The Arnhem–Leeuwarden railway is a railway line in the Netherlands running from Arnhem to Leeuwarden, passing through Deventer, Zwolle and Heerenveen. It is also called the ''Staatslijn A'' ("state line A") in Dutch. The part between Arnhem and Zwolle is sometimes called the ''IJssellijn'' ("IJssel line"). History The line opened between 1865 and 1868. During the Second World War, the tracks between Deventer and Olst were removed by the German occupiers following the national railway strike from 1944 onwards. It had been a double-track section like the rest of the line, but was replaced post-war by a single track due to costs. Brummen
Brummen () is a municipality and a village in the eastern Netherlands. Brummen has a small railway station - Brummen railway station on the line between Zutphen and Arnhem. The village is situated about southwest of Zutphen, no farther than 1.5 km from the IJssel river. About two kilometers west of the village, on the edge of the Veluwe forest area, lies the Engelenburg resort, a castle-like house. It is in use as a hotel for golf players and has a 9-hole golf-link. Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS; ; en, "Dutch Railways") is the principal passenger railway operator in the Netherlands. It is a Dutch state-owned company founded in 1938. Keolis Nederland is a public transport company operating bus and passenger train services in the Netherlands. Originally created as Syntus and owned by Connexxion, Keolis and Nederlandse Spoorwegen, since 2012 Keolis Nederland has been a 100% subsidiary of Keolis. Syntus is an acronym for Synergy between Train and Bus.
