Leslie Bruce Hamilton (4 July 191112 June 1989) was an Australian senior public servant and head of the Department of Social Services (later Social Security) between 1966 and 1973. Life and career Bruce Hamilton was born in Nook, Tasmania on 4 July 1911 to parents George Hamilton and Margaret Ann, née Peters. The Department of Social Services was an Australian government department that existed between April 1939 and December 1972. The Department was established by the Menzies Government in 1939, but did not become fully operative until 1941. Life and career Goodes was born in England, migrating to Australia in the 1920s and reaching Western Australia where he took on casual work, including digging dams and fencing. Louis Wienholt
Louis John Wienholt (1918–1973) was a senior Australian public servant, including as Secretary of the Department of Social Security in 1973. Life and career Wienholt was born in 1918. He was a Queenslander who went into practice with his wife, Hilda Wienholt in Red Hill, Queensland. Hilda died suddenly on 14 September 1944; the couple had a child aged just 11 months at the time of Hilda's death. The doctors who performed Hilda's autopsy were unable to determine the cause of her death. Wienholt began his Australian Public Service career in 1950. He was promoted to Senior Medical Officer, grade 2, third division in 1957. Between 1968 and 1973 he was a Deputy Director-General at the Department of Health.
