Bruce Delaney
Bruce Delaney (born c. 1954) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa. Delaney is a six-time Silver Tankard winner (1980, 1984, 1986, 1987, 2007, 2010), representing various clubs in Eastern Ontario, but usually representing the Navy Curling Club in Ottawa. He has won the annual City of Ottawa men's bonspiel Grand Aggregate Championship several times. Delaney was a competitive curler in Ontario in the 1970s and 1980s, but never made it to the Brier, Canada's national championship. He came the closest in 1986, when he lost the Labatt's Tankard provincial final against Russ Howard, playing third for Wayne Tallon. Delaney has found more success as a senior (50+) curler, and is a 3 time provincial senior champion. His Navy rink of George Mitchell, Duncan Jamieson, and Rick Bachand won titles in 2006, 2008 and 2009. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Russ Howard
Russell W. "Russ" Howard, CM, ONL (born February 19, 1956 in Midland, Ontario) is a Canadian curler and Olympic champion, based in Regina, Saskatchewan, but originally from Midland, Ontario. He lived in Moncton, New Brunswick from 2000 to 2019. Known for his gravelly voice, Howard has been to the Brier 14 times (8 as Ontario, 6 as New Brunswick), winning the title twice (both as Ontario). He is also a two-time world champion, winning in 1987 and 1993. He has also won three TSN Skins Games in 1991, 1992, and 1993, and participated in two Canadian Mixed Curling Championships in 2000 and 2001. He won gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics and two Canadian Senior Curling Championships in 2008 and 2009 finishing with a silver medal both of those years. Ed Lukowich
Edward R. "Ed" Lukowich (born March 1, 1946; nicknamed "Cool Hand Luke") is a former Canadian champion curler. Lukowich is a two-time Brier champion, having won the Brier Tankard for Alberta as skip of both the 1978 and 1986 Canadian championship teams. His team won the and placed third at 1988 Olympics when curling was a demonstration sport. Career Curling Born on March 1, 1946 in Speers, Saskatchewan, Lukowich was the Athlete Development Director from 2000 to 2009 of the United States Curling Association. He coached the Pete Fenson rink at the 2010 World Championship at Cortina d'Ampezzo to a 4th-place finish. Lukowich has written four books on curling and produced a 60-minute instructional video. Wayne Tallon
Wayne Tallon (born May 22, 1956) is a Canadian curler from Fredericton, New Brunswick. He is the 2013 Canadian Senior champion skip and 2014 World Senior champion skip. Career Ontario Tallon is originally from Ontario. Curling out of the Navy Curling Club in Ottawa, he won three Silver Regalia Tankards, in 1984, 1986 and 1987. New Brunswick men's Tallon would later move to New Brunswick, where he eventually teamed up with another ex-Ontarian in Russ Howard, who had beaten him in the 1986 Ontario championship finals. Tallon played third for the Howard rink that won the 1999 New Brunswick provincial men's championship. The team represented New Brunswick at the 1999 Labatt Brier where they finished in fourth place after losing to Saskatchewan's Gerald Shymko in the playoffs. Ontario Tankard
The Ontario Tankard is the Southern Ontario provincial championship for men's curling. The winner represents Team Ontario at the Tim Hortons Brier. The tournament is overseen by CurlON (formerly the Ontario Curling Association). Northern Ontario has its own provincial championship, known as the Northern Ontario Men's Provincial Curling Championship.
