The Kings County District Attorney's Office, also known as the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, is the District attorney, district attorney's office for Kings County, New York, Kings County, coterminous with the Borough of Brooklyn, in New York City. John Adams Dix
John Adams Dix (July 24, 1798 – April 21, 1879) was an American politician and military officer who was Secretary of the Treasury, Governor of New York and Union major general during the Civil War. He was notable for arresting the pro-Southern Maryland General Assembly, preventing that divided border state from seceding, and for arranging a system for prisoner exchange via the Dix–Hill Cartel, concluded in partnership with Confederate Major General Daniel Harvey Hill. Biography Dix was born in Boscawen, New Hampshire on July 24 1798, the son of Timothy Dix and Abigail Wilkins, and brother of composer Marion Dix Sullivan. Winchester Britton (April 9, 1826 - February 13, 1886) was an American attorney and politician from New York. Early life He was born on April 9, 1828, in North Adams, Massachusetts. Named Sebre Winchester Britton, Jr., in early manhood he changed his name. His mother died when he was very young, and his father removed with him to Troy, New York when Winchester was 10 years of age. John Winslow (New York Attorney)
John Winslow (October 21, 1825 – October 18, 1898) was an American lawyer. Life Winslow was born on October 21, 1825, in Ramapo, New York, the son of Eleazor Robbins Winslow and Ann Corbett. His ancestor was Kenelm Winslow, younger brother of Plymouth Colony Governor Edward Winslow. One of Winslow's brothers was Worcester mayor Samuel Winslow. When Winslow was sixteen months old, he and his family moved to Newton, Massachusetts. In 1843, he entered Holliston Academy in Holliston. He then went to Phillips Academy in Andover, followed by two years in Brown University. In 1850, he entered Harvard Law School, where his close friend and roommate was Edward L. Pierce. William W. Rockwell (July 21, 1824 –January 9, 1894) was an American politician from New York. Life Born in Hadley, Saratoga County, New York, he attended the common schools, and graduated from Bennington Academy.
