Brooklyn Center Transit Center
Brooklyn Center Transit Center (BCTC) is a Transport hub#Public transport, transit center in the Minneapolis, Minnesota, Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Owned and operated by Metro Transit (Minnesota), Metro Transit, it is one of the busiest single boarding locations in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Twin Cities. The transit center is not a park and ride, but provides free 10-minute parking and free outdoor bike racks. June 8, 2019 Metro Transit's second bus rapid transit line, the Metro (Minnesota), Metro C Line (Minnesota), C Line, opened with Brooklyn Center Transit Center as the line's northern terminus. The center will also be the northern terminus for the planned D Line (Minnesota), Metro D Line, expected to open 2021. The transit center opened December 4th, 2004 and cost $1.9 million. C Line (Minnesota)
The Metro C Line is a bus rapid transit line in Brooklyn Center and Minneapolis, Minnesota operated by Metro Transit. The line is part of Metro Transit's Metro network of light rail and bus rapid transit lines. The route operates from the Brooklyn Center Transit Center along Penn Avenue and Olson Memorial Highway, terminating in downtown Minneapolis. The route is analogous to the existing Route 19 and is projected to increase ridership on this corridor from 7,000 to 9,000 by 2030. Eventually, part of its route will shift south to Glenwood Avenue from Olson Memorial Highway. The C Line, along with the similarly built A Line, features fewer stops and modern bus stops with "train-like" amenities, including distinct stations and off-board fare payment. The ''Star Tribune'' is the largest newspaper in Minnesota. It originated as the ''Minneapolis Tribune'' in 1867 and the competing ''Minneapolis Daily Star'' in 1920. Brookdale Mall
Shingle Creek Crossing, formerly Brookdale Center, is a regional shopping mall in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. It became the third enclosed shopping mall in the Twin Cities, after Southdale Center and Apache Plaza. The mall opened in phases beginning with Phase One in March 1962 which included anchor stores Sears and JCPenney. Phase Two opened in 1966, adding Dayton's as the third anchor. Donaldson's became the fourth anchor in September 1967. Brookdale Center was part of "The Dales", what was referred to as the four "Dale" centers circling the Twin Cities, originally developed by Dayton-Hudson Corporation. The Metro D Line is a bus rapid transit line in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota. The route primarily operates on Fremont and Chicago Avenues from Brooklyn Center through Minneapolis to the Mall of America in Bloomington. As part of BRT service, the D Line features "train-like amenities" including improved station facilities, off-board fare payment, modern vehicles, fewer stops, and higher frequency. The current alignment would substantially replace the existing Route 5, the highest ridership bus route in Minnesota. Metro (styled as METRO) is a transit network in Minnesota serving the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. It also provides service to some suburban areas. As of 2022 the system consists of two light rail lines (Blue and Green Lines) and five bus rapid transit (BRT) lines ( Orange Line, Red Line, A, C, and D Lines) all of which are operated by the local public transit company: Metro Transit. Brooklyn Center is a first-ring suburban city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. In 1911, the area became a village formed from parts of Brooklyn Township and Crystal Lake Township. In 1966, Brooklyn Center became a charter city.
