Brooklands Hockey Club
Brooklands Hockey Club also known as Brooklands MU (men) and Brooklands Poynton (women) is a field hockey club that is based at the Brooklands Sports Club at Georges Road in Sale, Cheshire. The club runs seven men's teams (six senior and one veterans) and four women's teams, four junior teams and three mini teams. The men's first XI play in the Men's England Hockey League and the women's first XI play in the Women's England Hockey League. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. League Finals Weekend The top four Premier Division teams from the regular season qualify for the League Finals Weekend. The Women's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organised by England Hockey that features women's teams from England. From 2011-2020 it was sponsored by Investec and was referred to as the Investec Women's Hockey League. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of 12 teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten team Division One regional teams (North and South). Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. Sale is a town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, in the historic county of Cheshire on the south bank of the River Mersey, south of Stretford, northeast of Altrincham, and southwest of Manchester. 2013–14 England Hockey League Season
The 2013–14 English Hockey League season took place from September 2013 until April 2014. The end of season playoffs were held on the 5 & 6 April for the men and the 12 & 13 of April for the women. The Men's Championship was won by Beeston and the Women's Championship was won by Surbiton. The Men's Cup was won by Cannock and the Women's Cup was won by Surbiton. Phil Roper
Phillip Andrew "Phil" Roper (born 24 January 1992) is an English field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Dutch club Oranje-Rood in the Dutch Hoofdklasse and the England and Great Britain national teams. Club career Roper joined Dutch club Oranje-Rood for the 2021–22 season, for at least two seasons. He previously played club hockey in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Wimbledon. He started playing hockey, aged 8, for his local club Chester HC and played there for ten years before going to university, where he played for Sheffield Hallam. International career Roper made his international debut in 2013. He competed for England in the men's hockey tournament at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a bronze medal.
