Brontosaurus Chorus
Brontosaurus Chorus was a London-based indie pop band. The group was formed by vocalist Jodie Lowther and bassist Dominic Green in 2006. History Green had spent the years prior to the band forming as an indie DJ and promoter (for Panic!, Baby Seal and PopArt) whilst playing in a variety of London-based bands (Go Rimbaud, Angels Fight The City, Abdoujaparov, and Circuits) and as a hired hand to friends Metro Corskol, The Violet Pets. Lowther and Green built the band up to include eight members including co-vocalist and guitarist Matthew Curtis, violinists Shalini Santhakumaran and Steph Fuller, cellist Helen Jackson, trumpet player El Stephenson and drummer Tom Harrison. Building their live reputation through London in early 2007, Brontosaurus Chorus were invited to play Dublin's Electric Picnic that summer. Abdoujaparov
Abdoujaparov are a punk band formed on 19 October 1998 by ex-Carter USM guitarist Les Carter (aka Fruitbat). Abdoujaparov's musical foundation is in 1977 punk rock. Eight EPs, two singles and four albums have been released so far. A compilation CD featuring tracks from the first 3 EPs was released by Pop Gun in Australia. The band has toured the UK, Germany, Australia and America. Les and guitarist Richy Crockford have also recorded and toured under the name iDou, which consists of the two playing guitars over a backing track supplied by an iPod Shuffle. The band composed the song ''Pop Pop Pop'' for the 2004 video game Airburst Extreme. and Les and Richy wrote the music featured in the Xbox live arcade game TotemBall. Electric Picnic
Electric Picnic is an annual arts-and-music festival which has been staged since 2004 at Stradbally Hall in Stradbally, County Laois, Ireland. It is organised by Pod Concerts and Festival Republic, who purchased the majority shareholding in 2009. It was voted Best Medium-Sized European Festival at the 2010 European Festival Awards, and has been voted Best Big Festival at each of the last four Irish Festival Awards since they began in 2007. The Picnic has been described as "Ireland's version of Glastonbury" and "a great inspiration to Latitude" by one of its business partners, Laois. Pocketbooks
Pocketbooks was an indiepop band formed in London in 2006. Their music combined melodic boy/girl harmonies, spiralling guitars and delicate piano lines with a dash of 60s soul. The band first introduced themselves to the world by appearing on the 2006 compilation ''The Kids At The Club'', released on How Does It Feel To Be Loved?, alongside indiepop favourites such as Suburban Kids With Biblical Names, Tender Trap, I’m From Barcelona and Voxtrot. As well as playing gigs across the UK, Europe and the USA, they headlined the first ever Indietracks event on a steam railway in April 2007 which later turned into the annual Indietracks Festival which several members of the band helped to organise.
