Brodosplit
Brodosplit is the largest shipyard in Croatia, located in the Supaval bay, on the north side of the Split peninsula. History The company was founded in 1922 by a merger of shipyards in the area and has been in its current location since 1932. With significant development in the latter half of the 20th century, it has grown into one of Croatia's largest shipyards. When Croatia was a part of Socialist Yugoslavia, the Yugoslav Navy's submarines designed by Zagreb's Brodarski Institute were built in this shipyard, which was called ''Brodogradilište specijalnih objekata'' (Special objects' shipyard.) After the breakup of Yugoslavia, Brodosplit became a joint stock company, with the Government of Croatia as the majority holder. It employed nearly 4,000 people and had experience in designing and building a wide range of ships for an international market, diesel engines licensed by B&W (MAN) engine. MF ''Jadran'' is a ro-ro vehicle and passenger ferry owned and operated by Jadrolinija, the Croatian state-owned ferry company. Flying Clipper
SV ''Golden Horizon'' is a steel-hulled five- masted barque rigged tall ship which is in service as a cruise ship. Originally named ''Flying Clipper,'' the luxury vessel was designed by Polish naval architect Zygmunt Choreń, for Star Clippers Ltd. of Sweden, and built by the Brodosplit Shipyard in Split, Croatia. She is the largest sailing ship ever launched. Her design was based on ''France II'', a famous French five-mast cargo windjammer built in 1911. Due to a dispute with the shipyard, she was never delivered to Star Clippers. Instead, she has been chartered by Tradewind Voyages and renamed ''Golden Horizon.'' She entered into operation in May 2021. However the vessel was seized by UK authorities on the morning of the inaugural cruise over an ongoing financial dispute with Star Clippers. MS Gabriella
MS ''Gabriella'' is a cruiseferry sailing on a route connecting Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden for Viking Line. She was built in 1992 in Brodosplit, Croatia as ''Frans Suell'' for service with Euroway. Between 1994 and 1997 she sailed as ''Silja Scandinavia'' for Silja Line. ''Gabriella'' has sister ships ''Amorella'' in Viking Line fleet, ''Isabelle'' operated by Tallink, and a third one, ''Crown Seaways'', operated by DFDS Seaways. Concept and construction Euroway was a concept developed during the latter half of the 1980s by the Sweden-based Sea-Link Shipping. The new brand was planned to operate two state-of-the-art cruiseferries between Malmö in Sweden and Lübeck in Germany via Travemünde in Germany, with the service aimed in particular at conference groups. Sea-link decided to order the ships from Brodosplit in Croatia, which at that time still was part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. MS ''Crown Seaways'' is a cruiseferry operated by DFDS Seaways on a route connecting Copenhagen & Frederikshavn in Denmark to Oslo, Norway. The ship was built in 1994 by Brodosplit in Split, Croatia. She was originally ordered by Euroway and was to be called ''Frans Kockum'' but never sailed under that name. The ship was also temporarily renamed ''Thomas Mann'' during construction. She first sailed under the name ''Crown of Scandinavia''. ''Crown Seaways'' has three sister ships: ''Amorella'' and ''Gabriella'' in the Viking Line fleet and ''Isabelle'' in the Tallink fleet. MS Mega Victoria is a cruiseferry owned by Corsica Ferries. She was formerly owned by Viking Line as MS ''Amorella'' and operated on the route Turku–Mariehamn–Stockholm and from 2022 Helsinki-Mariehamn-Stockholm. She was built in 1988 by Brodosplit in Croatia, then Yugoslavia. ''Amorella'' has three sister ships: ''Gabriella'' in the Viking Line fleet, ''Isabelle'' operated by Tallink and ''Crown Seaways'', operated by DFDS Seaways. History ''Amorella'' was ordered in 1986 by SF Line, one of the partners in Viking Line consortium. Although Brodosplit outbid other shipyards, the Finnish State offered to subsidise construction of the ship if she was built at a Finnish shipyard. This was a common practice in the 1980s to bring more jobs to Finland, but this time SF Line declined and had the ship built in Croatia.
