Brock Citizen
The ''Brock Citizen'' is a weekly, community newspaper in Cannington, Ontario, Canada, that was established in 1996 combining the ''Beaverton Express'', the ''Cannington Gleamer'' and ''Sunderland Sun'' newspapers. It is one of three newspapers in the Kawartha Division of Metroland Media Group, a subsidiary of Torstar which publishes newspapers across Ontario. The ''Brock Citizen'' has a circulation reaching 5,600 homes. The current publisher is Dana Robbins, and the editor-in-chief is Marcus Tully. The ''Citizen'' prides itself in being 'The Voice of Brock Township', serving Beaverton, Cannington and Sunderland and surrounding area. Lindsay is a community of 22 367 people (2021 Canadian Census, 2021 census) on the Scugog River in the Kawartha Lakes (Ontario), Kawartha Lakes region of south-eastern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately west of Peterborough, Ontario, Peterborough. It is the seat of the Kawartha Lakes, City of Kawartha Lakes (formerly Victoria County, Ontario, Victoria County), and the hub for business and commerce in the region. History The Township of Ops was surveyed in 1825 by Colonel Duncan McDonell, and Lots 20 and 21 in the 5th Concession were reserved for a town site. The same year settlers began to come to the region, and by 1827, the Purdys, an American family, built a dam on the Scugog River at the site of present-day Lindsay. Cannington, Ontario
Cannington is a community in Brock Township, Durham Region, Ontario, Canada. The town is on the Beaver River. History Originally part of the original Brock Township, (historic map) Cannington was first settled in 1833. It was first known as McCaskill's Mills after a local mill-owning family. In 1849, a post office was opened, at which point the settlement was renamed Cannington after former British foreign secretary and Prime Minister George Canning (1770–1827). Cannington separated from Brock Township in 1878 when it was incorporated as a Village. When Durham Region was created in 1974, Cannington was amalgamated with the original Brock Township, Thorah Township and the Village of Beaverton to create the newly expanded Township of Brock. Mass is an intrinsic property of a body. It was traditionally believed to be related to the quantity of matter in a physical body, until the discovery of the atom and particle physics. It was found that different atoms and different elementary particles, theoretically with the same amount of matter, have nonetheless different masses.
