The Great Destroyer
''The Great Destroyer'' is the seventh studio album by American indie rock band Low. It was released on January 25, 2005, as their first recording on Sub Pop Records. "California", a song about Sparhawk's mother, was released as the album's first single, backed with a demo of "Cue the Strings". A remix EP of "Monkey", entitled " Tonight the Monkeys Die", soon followed. Music videos were created for both. The title of the album (as well as the song "Silver Rider") is taken from the story within the album art. Critical reception The site named it the 46th-best reviewed album of 2005. Broadway Cinema
Broadway Cinema is an independent cinema in the city of Nottingham, England in the United Kingdom. It is located in the Hockley area. In 2009, it was rated as one of the best cinemas in the world by Total Film magazine. History The site now occupied by the cinema began its life as the Broad Street Wesleyan Church, which was built in 1839 by the architect S. S. Rawlinson. This church is reputedly where the founder of the Salvation Army, William Booth, was converted. Since the 1960s, the site has housed the Co-operative Education Centre, the Nottingham Film Society, City Lights Cinema and, since 1982, the Broadway Cinema. George Routledge (23 September 1812 – 13 December 1888) was a British book publisher and the founder of the publishing house Routledge. Early life He was born in Brampton, Cumberland on 23 September 1812. Career Routledge gained his early experience of business with Thurnam & Sons, booksellers, at Carlisle. Moving to London in 1833, he started in business for himself as a bookseller in 1836, and as a publisher in 1843. He made his first serious success by reprinting the Biblical commentaries of an American writer, Albert Barnes. Routledge's fame as a publisher, however, rests mainly on popular books. The Broadway was a mid-level department store chain headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1896 by English-born Arthur Letts Sr., and named after what was once the city's main shopping street, the Broadway became a dominant retailer in Southern California and the Southwest. Its fortunes eventually declined, and Federated Department Stores (now Macy's, Inc.) bought the chain in 1995. In 1996, Broadway stores were either closed or converted into Macy's and Bloomingdales.
