Broadway-Fillmore
Broadway-Fillmore (formerly known as Polonia) is a neighborhood in Buffalo, New York. Geography Broadway-Fillmore is in the lower East Side of Buffalo. The neighborhood is centered along Broadway running west–east and Fillmore Avenue running north–south. History/Culture Broadway-Fillmore was once home to a large Polish/Eastern European population in Buffalo. The neighborhood has long since fallen into poverty and disrepair in the mid-late 20th century. Today a large African American population along with new immigrants are trying to breathe new life into the neighborhood. Goo Goo Dolls lead singer John Rzeznik grew up here. The neighborhood later became inspiration for the song "Broadway". Buffalo Central Terminal
Buffalo Central Terminal is an historic former railroad station in Buffalo, New York. An active station from 1929 to 1979, the 17-story Art Deco style station was designed by architects Fellheimer & Wagner for the New York Central Railroad. The Central Terminal is located in the city of Buffalo's Broadway/Fillmore district. After years of abandonment, it is now owned by the non-profit preservation group Central Terminal Restoration Corporation, whichmade tremendous strides in stabilizing the facility and bringing attention to the importance of this living landmark. "Broadway" is a song recorded by the Goo Goo Dolls. The song was released in March 2000 as the last single from their sixth studio album, ''Dizzy Up the Girl'' (1998). John Rzeznik
John Joseph Theodore Rzeznik (; born December 5, 1965) is an American singer-songwriter, best known as the founder, guitarist and frontman of the American rock band Goo Goo Dolls, with whom he has recorded 14 studio albums. Early life Rzeznik was born in Buffalo, New York, the youngest of five children and only son of Edith (née Pomeroy) and Joe Rzeznik, a bar proprietor and postal clerk. Both of Rzeznik's parents were musicians, playing the clarinet and flute. Rzeznik had a strict Catholic upbringing in Buffalo's working-class East Side Polish neighborhood and attended Corpus Christi Grammar School. All four of Rzeznik's grandparents were born in Poland. The original pronunciation of his last name Rzeźnik is "Zhezh-neek" (zh as in bei''ge'') , Polish for "butcher".
