Barry Samuel Broadfoot, CM (January 21, 1926 – November 28, 2003) was a Canadian journalist, interviewer and history writer born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. History Broadfoot's first job at 17 years old was as a cub reporter who had to go to the homes of men killed in action in World War II and obtain photographs to run along with their death notices. At 18, he joined the Canadian Army and spent the next two years in the infantry. Broadfoot's historical research consisted of interviewing subjects, generally from across Canada, about their memories of their lives during specific historical periods such as the Great Depression and World War II. ''Ten Lost Years'', his first in this series of books, published in 1973, was an oral history of the experiences of people during the Great Depression. He has been chief football writer with '' The Herald'' newspaper in Glasgow, as well as a regular guest on football shows such as Sportscene on BBC One Scotland, Radio Clyde and Setanta Sports. David Broadfoot
David Broadfoot GC (21 July 1899 – 31 January 1953) was a Scottish seaman awarded the George Cross for his bravery during the sinking of the . He was born in Stranraer, Scotland. By 1917, he had gained a radio license and later qualified as a ship's Radio Officer. In this capacity, he served in merchant navy during both World War I and World War II. In October 1950, he joined the crew of the . He was serving on board the ship on 31 January 1953, when it sank in the North Channel in the worst maritime disaster in United Kingdom waters since World War II. Broadfoot remained at his post while the ship was sinking, sending messages to shore stations to enable them to locate the ship. He was posthumously awarded the George Cross, the highest award for bravery to British civilians. Grover is a blue Muppet character on the popular PBS/HBO children's television show ''Sesame Street''. Self-described as lovable, cute and furry, he is a blue monster who rarely uses contractions when he speaks or sings. Grover was originally performed by Frank Oz from his earliest appearances. Kirk Broadfoot
Kirk John Broadfoot (born 8 August 1984) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a defender for Lowland League club Open Goal Broomhill. Broadfoot started his senior career with St Mirren and he helped the club gain promotion to the Scottish Premier League by winning the 2005–06 Scottish First Division. He moved to Rangers as a free agent in 2007 and enjoyed success with the Ibrox club until he left Rangers by mutual consent in August 2012. Broadfoot then joined English club Blackpool, but was released by them in May 2014, moving on to Rotherham. In 2017 he returned to Scotland and joined Kilmarnock, spending two full seasons with the club. Broadfoot returned to St Mirren in September 2019, but in January 2020 he moved back to Kilmarnock. Louise Broadfoot (born 26 February 1978 in Melbourne) is an Australian former cricket player. Broadfoot played domestic cricket for the Victorian Spirit between 1996 and 2004 and the Queensland Fire between 2005 and 2010. Patricia M. Broadfoot, CBE, FRSA, FAcSS (born 13 July 1949) was vice-chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire from 2006 to 2010.
