Bro Code
In popular culture, the Bro Code is a friendship etiquette to be followed among men or, more specifically, among members of the Bro (subculture), bro subculture. The term was invented and popularized by Barney Stinson, a character from the television show ''How I Met Your Mother''. Katherine Connor Martin, head of content creation at OxfordDictionaries.com, Oxford Dictionaries, recognized Stinson as "the quintessence of a certain iteration of the contemporary bro". The notion Early references The notion of an unwritten set of rules that govern the relationship between male friends is present in American popular culture at least since 1991. Carter Bays
Carter Loard Bays (born August 12, 1975) is an American author, composer and television showrunner. Bays co-created the CBS sitcom '' How I Met Your Mother'' where he served as showrunner, writer and executive producer for all nine seasons. The show received ten Primetime Emmy Awards. Wingman (social)
Wingman (or wingmate) is a role that a person may take when a friend needs support with approaching potential romantic partners. People who have a wingman can have more than one wingman. A wingman is someone who is on the "inside" and is used to help someone with intimate relationships. In general, one person's wingman will help them avoid attention from undesirable prospective partners or attract desirable ones, or both. Origin The term originated in combat aviation in various international military aviation communities shortly before and after the advent of fighter jets. Pilots flying in formation, especially when in combat training or in actual aerial combat, refer to the pilot immediately next to them (traditionally on their right, sometimes on either side) as their "wingman" (the man on their wing). "What happens on tour, stays on tour" is a phrase or saying agreed to by persons who get together and travel either domestically or overseas for sporting tours. In essence, the phrase means that all exploits during the tour must be kept strictly confidential, never to be discussed with anyone outside the group. Man Laws (Men of the Square Table) are a series of beer Television commercial, commercials for Miller Lite, inspired by the supposed unwritten codes by which men live. The "Men of the Square Table" are a parody of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table. The "Square Table" they congregate around is located in what appears to be a secret, ''Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Dr. Strangelove''-esque room with glass (probably soundproof) walls. The advertising campaign was a response to negative feedback about prior sexism, sexist advertising. The campaign also included a website as well as print advertising. A gentlemen's agreement, or gentleman's agreement, is an informal and legally non-binding agreement between two or more parties. It is typically oral, but it may be written or simply understood as part of an unspoken agreement by convention or through mutually-beneficial etiquette. The essence of a gentlemen's agreement is that it relies upon the honor of the parties for its fulfillment, rather than being in any way enforceable. Bromance
A bromance is a very close and non-sexual relationship between two or more men. It is an exceptionally tight, affectional, homosocial male bonding relationship exceeding that of usual friendship, and is distinguished from normal friendship by a particularly high level of emotional intimacy.
