''Brita in the Merchant's House'' (Swedish: ''Brita i grosshandlarhuset'') is a 1946 Swedish drama film directed by Åke Ohberg and starring George Fant, Eva Dahlbeck and Åke Grönberg.Qvist & Von Bagh p.58 It was shot at the Sundbyberg Studios in Stockholm. The film's sets were designed by the art director Max Linder. Synopsis Brita leaves her dull, impoverished rural existence and moves to Stockholm where she gets a job as a maid in the house of a wealthy wholesaler where she falls in love with the merchant's son. However, Arvid, a young man from her home village comes to the city to court her as well. Åke Ohberg (20 July 1905 – 18 July 1975) was a cinema of Sweden, Swedish actor and film director. He appeared in about 30 roles in films between 1932 and 1961. Ohberg was born to Johan and Hulda Ohberg in Västerås, Sweden. Marriage and Family He married actress Birgit Chenon but that marriage did not last. He married actress Peggy Lindberg in 1937, a union that lasted until his death. They had two children, a daughter Ingert and a son Anders. Astrid Bodin (10 July 1903 – 20 October 1961) was a Swedish actress who appeared in over 120 films. Born on 10 July 1903 in Österunda, Sweden, she began her film-acting career with a small role in 1933's ''Djurgårdsnätter'', starring Erik Berglund and Anne-Marie Brunius. She appeared mostly in smaller roles, many times un-credited. Her final performance was as an unnamed woman in Börje Nyberg's ''Svenska Floyd'' (1961), which was released on her 58th birthday, 10 July 1961. Linnéa Paulina Hillberg, ''née'' Nilsson (26 October 1892 – 3 July 1977) was a Sweden, Swedish actress. Biography Born in Uddevalla on the Swedish west coast, Linnéa Hillberg made her stage debut in 1913. Early on she acted (1914-18) with the Karin Swanström Theatre Company and 1920-27 she was part of Ernst Eklund (actor), Ernst Eklund's Komediteatern (The Comedy Theatre). In between and during this time she appeared in a number of early Swedish silent films. Nils Bengt Folke Ekerot (8 February 1920 – 26 November 1971) was a Swedish actor best known for portraying Death in ''The Seventh Seal'' (1957) directed by Ingmar Bergman. In 1956, he directed the world premiere of '' Long Day's Journey into Night'', the masterpiece of US playwright Eugene O'Neill. Early life Ekerot was born in Stockholm. Career He had several roles in Swedish films, but in Ingmar Bergman's ''The Seventh Seal'' (1957) he portrayed Death as a white-faced man in a black cloak. The decision to perform the role in this way was a joint decision between the actor and director. Ib Christian Albert von Cotta Schønberg (23 October 1902 – 24 September 1955) was a Danish film actor, and is considered one of the leading actors of Danish film in the 20th century. Hilda Borgström
Hilda Teresia Borgström (13 October 1871 – 2 January 1953) was a Swedish stage and film actress. Biography Born in 1871 in Stockholm, Borgström made her film debut in 1912. She starred in leading parts in Victor Sjöström's silent films ''Ingeborg Holm'' (aka ''Margaret Day'') (1913) and '' Körkarlen'' (aka ''The Phantom Carriage/The Stroke of Midnight/Thy Soul Shall Bear Witness'') in 1921. Borgström started out to be a dancer and trained at the old Royal Theatre's ballet school in Stockholm 1880–1887. Later she decided to turn to the theatre instead and studied drama. Her professional debut on stage came in 1890 at one of Albert Ranft's theatres. She was an actress of Sweden's national stage, the Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten), between 1900 and 1912 and 1920 and 1938.
