Bridgewater State Bears Football
The Bridgewater State Bears football team represents Bridgewater State University in college football at the NCAA Division III level. The Bears are members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), fielding its team in the MASCAC since 2013. The Bears play their home games at Swenson Field in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Their head coach is Joe Verria, who took over the position for the 2016 season. Joe Verria
Joseph Verria is an American football coach. He has been the head football coach at the Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Massachusetts since 2016. A star player at Bridgewater State for head coach Peter Mazzaferro from 1976 to 1979, Verria spent time on the NFL preseason, preseason rosters of several National Football League teams, including the Green Bay Packers under head coach Bart Starr in 1980, the Cincinnati Bengals under head coach Forrest Gregg in 1981, the Miami Dolphins under head coach Don Shula in 1982, and the New England Patriots under head coach Ron Meyer in 1983. 1962 NAIA Football Season
The 1962 NAIA football season was the seventh season of college football sponsored by the NAIA. The season was played from August to December 1962, culminating in the seventh annual NAIA Football National Championship, played this year at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento, California. During its three years in Sacramento, the game was called the Camellia Bowl (separate from the present day bowl game with the same name in Montgomery, Alabama). Central State defeated in the championship game, 28–13, to win their first NAIA national title. NCAA College Division
The NCAA College Division was a historic subdivision of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) consisting of member schools competing at a lower level of college sports. The NCAA initially divided schools into a College Division and a University Division.
