Brian Howard (radio Broadcaster)
Brian "Howdy" Howard is a radio announcer, songwriter and firefighter from Tamworth, New South Wales. In 2006 he was inducted into the Australian Country Music Hall Of Fame and the Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Career Howard's radio career began in 1980 with radio 2SER, where he remained until 1988 when he moved to 2TM in Tamworth on the famous Hoedown Radio Network. Howdy is the current breakfast presenter on 88.9FM Tamworth. Howard is also a musician and singer. His songs have been recorded by many Australian country music recording artists including Gordon Parsons, Glenn Jones, Reg Poole and Christina George. Personal life Howard has lived a "double life" working as a firefighter. Howard moved to Sydney, and graduated from Fire Brigade Training College at Paddington. He then worked at Randwick Fire Station from 1971. He became Captain of West Tamworth Fire Station five years after moving to Tamworth in 1988. Randwick is located 6 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district and is the administrative centre for the local government area of the City of Randwick. The Tamworth Country Music Festival is an annual Australian music festival held for 10 days from Friday to Sunday in mid to late January each year, sometimes including Australia Day, in Tamworth, New South Wales. The festival is the second biggest country music festival in the world, after the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Reg Poole
Reg Poole is an Australian country singer-songwriter. Poole won three Golden Guitars, was inducted into the Roll of Renown in 2006, was awarded an OAM for services to country music in 2006 and in 2016 was elevated to Country Music living legend; as award designed to honour the achievements of those who have made a lasting contribution to country music in Australia and are actively engaged in writing, recording and performing. Career Poole left his dairy farm in the 1970s to pursue a career in music and won his first Golden Guitar in 1974. Gordon Parsons (singer-songwriter)
Gordon Parsons was an Australian country music singer-songwriter, best known as the composer of Slim Dusty's 1957 hit song "A Pub With No Beer". In 1982, Parsons was inducted into the Australian Roll of Renown. Early life and career He was born in Paddington, an Eastern suburb of Sydney in 1926, and moved with his parents to Cooks Creek near Bellingen, New South Wales, in 1929. At age 14, he left his parents' farm and subsequently worked as a sleeper-cutter. Around this time, he entered a well-known radio talent quest, "Terry Dear’s Australian Amateur Hour", and was awarded second prize. Regal Zonophone Records, as a result of hearing him on "Amateur Hour", recorded six songs with him in 1947. As a performer, he then toured widely in rural Australia with a number of travelling shows, including Goldwyn Brothers Circus.
