Brian Enos
Brian Enos (born in Park Layne, Ohio) is an American sport shooter who took silver in the Standard division at the 1993 IPSC Handgun World Shoot and has two silver medals from the IPSC US Handgun Championship. He also has two silver medals from the World Steel Challenge Championship and has won the U.S. National Steel Challenge Championship two times in the Limited division. Based on ten years of active shooting he in 1990 published the book "Practical Shooting, Beyond Fundamentals". Park Layne, Ohio
Park Layne is a census-designated place (CDP) in Clark County, Ohio, United States. The area is also referred to as Park Layne Manor. The population of the CDP was 4,248 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Springfield, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. On May 24, 2017, an EF1 tornado touched down and caused damage to several businesses in the community. Geography Park Layne is located in southwestern Clark County on the western edge of Bethel Township. It is bordered to the east by unincorporated Crystal Lakes and to the west by Bethel Township in Miami County. Park Layne Elementary School is located in the northwest corner of the CDP. International Practical Shooting Confederation
The International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) is the world's largest shooting sport association, and the largest and oldest within practical shooting. Founded in 1976, the IPSC nowadays affiliates over 100 regions from Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania. Competitions are held with pistol, revolver, rifle, and shotgun, and the competitors are divided into different divisions based on firearm and equipment features. IPSC Handgun World Shoot
The IPSC Handgun World Shoot is the highest level handgun match within the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) which consists of several days and at least 30 separate courses of fire. The Handgun World Shoots are held triennially on a rotational cycle with the other two main IPSC disciplines Rifle and Shotgun. 1993 IPSC Handgun World Shoot
The 1993 IPSC Handgun World Shoot X held in Bisley, England was the 10th IPSC Handgun World Shoot, and consisted of 5 days with 34 stages, teams from over 27 countries and much rain. The competition had been divided into the Open, Standard and Modified divisions. The Standard division was won by Ted Bonnet of United States, the Modified division by Robert Buntschu of Switzerland and the Open division by Matthew McLearn of United States. Born in Nova Scotia, Mclearn had moved to the U.S. five years prior the world championship to pursue gunsmithing training and advance in the competitive arena. IPSC US Handgun Championship
The IPSC US Handgun Championship are yearly IPSC level 3 matches held by the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) run under IPSC-rules (contrary to the USPSA Handgun Championship, which is run under USPSA-rules). Sometimes, all of the pistol IPSC nationals are held at the same time, other years, they have been broken up between different ranges. In order to attend the nationals a competitor usually has to win a "slot" by placing well enough at various regional and Area Championship matches held throughout the year. Steel Challenge
The Steel Challenge is a speed shooting competition governed by thSteel Challenge Shooting Association(SCSA) that consists of eight standardized stages with steel targets in three sizes; small circular, large circular and rectangular targets. Competitors are scored solely by the time it takes them to complete each stage, and the match winner is the competitor with the lowest overall time. Steel Challenge has many similarities with IPSC, but has a more TV- and spectator friendly format because of simpler rules and the stages being the same from year to year. Because of this, Steel Challenge has become a place where speed records are set and broken. Bianchi Cup
The Bianchi Cup is a major action pistol tournament in the United States, usually held over three days in late May. Since 1984 the National Rifle Association of America has designated it their National Action Pistol Championship. It is normally held in Columbia, Missouri, at the Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club. It has the largest purse of any tournament on the action pistol calendar and is the premier action pistol championship tournament in the world. The Bianchi Cup is the only major shooting tournament that has retained its original course of fire since its inception. Robert Jennings Leatham (born January 27, 1961 in Mesa, Arizona) is a professional shooter who is a 24-time USPSA National champion and 7-time International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) World Champion. Biography On Leatham's twelfth birthday, he received his first gun. His family surprised him with a new Smith & Wesson Model 34 revolver on one of their trips to shoot in the desert. He continued desert shooting throughout his teenage years and became involved in other sports such as basketball. Competition shooting Leatham's first competition took place in the late 1970s at a night shoot at the Mesa Police Department range. Ron Avery
Ronald E. Avery (September 22, 1956 – February 23, 2019) was an American sport shooter and firearms instructor who took bronze in the Standard division at the 2002 IPSC Handgun World Shoot and bronze in the Standard division Senior category at the 2014 IPSC Handgun World Shoot. He also took the Standard division title in the 2013 IPSC US Handgun Championship and the Limited-10 division title at the 2000 USPSA Handgun Nationals. Ron focused most of his instruction on developing a doctrine for shooting called "Reactive Shooting Science", which he termed "the earliest way to get a hit and then do it again". His primary life interest was in "helping the good guys win", so he focused on creating a doctrine that was competitive but always tactically sound.
