BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars World Championship
The World Championship is an annual competition and the premier championship for BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars. The winner is granted the honour of racing with a gold roof and wing until the next World Final. Qualification The World Final is usually held in September. The host tracks, all of which are based in Britain, are chosen by the designated promoter. The grid for the World Final is composed of drivers from Britain who are chosen through a series of qualifying rounds and two World Championship Semi-Finals. Drivers who fail to progress from the World Semi-Finals may race again in a Consolation Semi-Final to choose two more entrants, and the reigning World Champion is entitled to start at the rear of the grid if they have not already qualified. BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars
BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars is a class of single seater auto racing in the UK. Cars are custom-built and race on oval tracks of either shale or tarmac of up to a quarter-mile in length. The tracks they race on are surrounded by either steel plate or post and wire fences to keep the cars on the track. Racing involves contact, drivers are allowed to push, punt or spin fellow competitors out of the way. The cars are very strong and are of an open wheel design, but are designed with the contact element in mind, with front and rear bumpers and a sturdy chassis and roll cage. History BriSCA F2 Stock Car racing was introduced in a demonstration meeting at Tamworth in August 1960. Hednesford Hills Raceway
Hednesford Hills Raceway (often referred to as Hednesford Raceway) is an oval, short-circuit motor racing venue, situated on Cannock Chase, approximately from the town of Hednesford, Staffordshire, England and is operated by Incarace Ltd. About the circuit The circuit was originally built inside a dis-used reservoir and operated by Claude Roe and Les Marshall in 1952 utilizing the site of a former reservoir, before opening for the first time in 1954. Due to failure in business, Roe and Marshall decided to abandon their plans for Hednesford Raceway and close down in 1955. Following the closure of Tamworth Stadium in 1961, would-be promoter Bill Morris acquired the defunct Hednesford circuit and ran a handful of so-called 'practice meetings' in 1962. Arena Essex Raceway
Arena Essex Raceway was a stock car and speedway racing track located near Purfleet, Essex. It opened in 1978 and closed in 2018. The Lakeside Shopping Centre was built close to the venue. The stadium The Arena-Essex Raceway Complex was the idea of local businessman and racing driver, Chick Woodroffe. It was built in the remains of an old cement works overspill site. The new circuit was a quarter-mile long with the first stock car race meeting held on 1 May 1978 which was infamously ruined by a heavy downpour. The track originally had a post and wire fence, which caused some colossal crashes and wrecks in the banger formula, and caught a few of the hot rods out too. In the late 80's the track swapped the post and wire for an Armco barrier and catch-fencing was installed to further protect spectators. Mildenhall Stadium
Mildenhall Stadium is a speedway, stock car racing and Greyhound Board of Great Britain regulated greyhound racing venue located in Mildenhall, Suffolk between Cambridge and Norwich. The stadium is known as Suffolk Downs when greyhound racing takes place. The stadium has a Race View Restaurant and a fish and chip shop as well as the Fen Men bar licensed bar. There is a second licensed bar underneath the home straight grandstand. Speedway is held on Sundays (April to October). Origins and opening Mildenhall is in an area with strong coursing roots and in later decades greyhound racing became a popular sport too. King's Lynn Stadium
King's Lynn Stadium, also known as the Adrian Flux Arena and previously as the Norfolk Arena, is a short oval stadium situated to the south of King's Lynn on Saddlebow Road in Norfolk County, England. It currently hosts BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Car Racing, Banger racing, motorcycle speedway and is also a former greyhound racing track. Origins The stadium was constructed in 1951 on the west side of Saddlebow Road next door to a poultry farm. It originally opened for greyhound racing. Barry Goldin
Barry Goldin (born 24 July 1978) is a BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars racing driver from Bolton, Greater Manchester who races under number 401. Goldin is one of a select group of drivers who has won the National Points Championship on three occasions. In 2012, Barry married fellow racer and BTCC Grid Girl Jo Polley, although the pair announced their separation in September 2014. Racing career Goldin began his racing career in Ministox at the age of 12 in 1991. He won numerous regional championships in 1993 and 1994 and the National Points Championship in 1993. In 1995, Goldin began racing Formula 2 stock cars. He earned his first championship success in 1999, taking the English Championship. However, it wasn't until Rob Speak retired from Formula 2 that Goldin could step up to become the sport's number one driver. Rob Speak
Rob Speak (born 14 March 1972) is a racing driver from Tyldesley, Greater Manchester, he’s one of the most successful drivers in BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Cars history. He has won the National Points Championship eleven times in succession and the World Championship eight times ( 6 in a row) . In addition, he has won the BriSCA Formula 1 Stock Cars World Championship, National Points Championship plus the European Championship twice each. In September 2016 he became the new owner and promoter of the Skegness Stadium in Lincolnshire. Stock Car career Rob began his racing career in a Ministox costing £50 at Long Eaton. In his three seasons in Ministox he went on to win every major title, concluding his Minstox racing as National, National Points and British Champion in 1987.
