Brent Knopf
Ramona Falls is an indie rock project founded by Brent Knopf and based in Portland, Oregon. The band name is taken from a waterfall located near Mount Hood, a place where Knopf used to hike as a child. Brent Knopf co-founded Menomena before departing in 2011, and is also one-half of EL VY, a collaboration with The National's Matt Berninger. History Ramona Falls took shape after Menomena's recording process for their third album was delayed. Knopf embarked on the project with songs that were not used for Menomena. Brent played a handful of his own material at shows around Portland, Oregon sometime in the years prior to the Ramona Falls project, including a performance October 24, 2008 in New York under the name "Dear Everything." Matt Berninger
Matthew Donald Berninger (, born February 13, 1971) is an American singer-songwriter, primarily known as the frontman and lyricist of indie rock band The National. In 2014, he also formed the EL VY project with Brent Knopf of Ramona Falls and Menomena and released the album '' Return to the Moon'' in November 2015. In May 2020, Berninger shared the title track from his solo debut album, '' Serpentine Prison'', which was released in October 2020. Berninger is known for his classic baritone voice. Personal life Berninger is a 1989 graduate of St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He went on to study graphic design at the University of Cincinnati, where he met fellow band member Scott Devendorf in 1991. The two quickly became friends. Stefan Nadelman is an American film director and animator. A collection of photos from Stefan Nadelman's film '' Terminal Bar'' was released in book form in 2014, authored by Nadelman and his father Sheldon Nadelman who also was the book's photographer, entitled, '' Terminal Bar: A Photographic Record of New York's Most Notorious Watering Hole.'' Talkdemonic is an avant-instrumental duo based in Portland, Oregon. The band consists of Kevin O'Connor and Lisa Molinaro. Talkdemonic signed with Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace Records to release their fourth record in Fall 2011. History Talkdemonic was established by O'Connor in December 2002 after he moved from Pullman, Washington to Portland. It began as a musical project to express his obsession with instrumental hip hop and electronic music. O'Connor said he was at a local club when he heard a voice utter the word "talkdemonic" and he felt it fit his new project perfectly. Loch Lomond (band)
Loch Lomond is an American indie folk band based in Portland, Oregon, founded as a solo recording project of Ritchie Young in 2003. History Regarding the origins of the band name, Ritchie Young stated "I wanted to call the band The Mountains but there are tons of "mountains" bands. We ordered some reel-to-reel tape on eBay and it had a sticker on the box that said Loch Lomond. On the tape itself were old French nuns singing. We sampled that in our first record." With help of engineer/producer Rob Oberdorfer, Young crafted the first Loch Lomond album, ''When We Were Mountains'' with Ryan Cross and Kate O'Brien in 2004. Tracker (band)
Tracker is an American indie rock ensemble from Portland, Oregon. The act was founded in 1998 by John Askew, a freelance audio engineer and writer for Tape Op magazine. Background Askew, a multi-instrumentalist, initially performed studio recordings with little (if any) assistance, and recruited a revolving line of musicians for live performances. Among the artists in tow include Michael Schorr, the drummer with Death Cab for Cutie as well as Dave Harding, the bassist with Richmond Fontaine. Schorr would eventually become a mainstay with the act. As Death Cab for Cutie came to prominence, Tracker shared stages with them, alongside Giant Sand, Calexico, and The Black Heart Procession. Soren Anders (born John T. Fischer) is an American composer, singer, record producer and instrumentalist from southern Illinois. He is the creator of the multi-award winning band Shimmerplanet. Early life Anders has said that as a child, he spent a lot of time outdoors, growing things and getting dirty. A bit of a hippy, he subscribed to ''Organic Gardening'' magazine when he was eight years old. He spent much of his early years playing the piano and violin, drafting maps of imaginary cities, and escaping into endless hours of TV watching. Dat'r is an Electronic music band consisting of Matt Dabrowiak and Paul Alcott, from Portland, Oregon. History Dat'r was originally formed as a side project of the Portland-based Rock band Binary Dolls. Alcott and Dabrowiak began pursuing Dat'r when Binary Dolls' singer Nick Jaina decided to focus on writing and performing Folk music. Shortly after the release of their Hush Records debut '' Turn Up the Ghosts'', Dat'r was voted #6 on the "Top Ten Best New Bands in Portland" by the Willamette Week, a local newspaper. Danny Seim
Lackthereof is the solo project of Danny Seim, a founding member of the Portland, Oregon-based band Menomena. History The first six Lackthereof albums were recorded at home and given out to Seim's friends on cassettes and CD-R's. In 2005, FILMguerrero released ''Christian the Christian'', making it the first album in the Lackthereof discography to receive any sort of formal distribution. Seim took Lackthereof to a live setting for the first time in 2004, recruiting his then-wife Holly, friend Tyler Poage, and Kevin and Anita Robinson of the band Viva Voce.
