Brennen Jones
Brennen Ray Jones (born April 25, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. He is a two-time provincial junior champion. In 2006, playing third for Mitch Heidt, Jones won his first provincial junior championship qualifying him for the 2006 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Saskatchewan missed the playoffs, finishing with a 7–5 round robin record. In 2008, Jones skipped his own team to his second provincial junior championship. His Saskatchewan rink finished the round robin at the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships with a 9–3 record. This put him in a tie-breaker against Ontario (skipped by Travis Fanset) which he lost. Weyburn
Weyburn is the eleventh-largest city in Saskatchewan, Canada. The city has a population of 10,870. It is on the Souris River southeast of the provincial capital of Regina, Saskatchewan, Regina and is north from the North Dakota border in the United States. The name is reputedly a corruption of the Scottish "wee burn," referring to a small creek. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Weyburn No. 67. History The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) reached the future site of Weyburn from Brandon, Manitoba in 1892 and the Soo Line Railroad, Soo Line from North Portal, Saskatchewan, North Portal on the US border in 1893. Travis Fanset
Travis Mitchell Fanset (born July 26, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Tillsonburg, Ontario. A former Canadian junior runner-up, he played on the World Curling Tour From 2011 to 2017, including one season with the John Epping rink. Career Fanset and his rink of Craig Van Ymeren, Geoff Chambers and Christopher Jay won the 2008 Ontario Junior Curling Championships, defeating Neil Sinclair in the provincial final. The team represented Ontario at the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. There, Fanset led his rink to a 9–3 round robin record. The team then defeated Saskatchewan (skipped by Brennen Jones) in a tiebreaker, and then Prince Edward Island ( Brett Gallant) in the semifinal, before losing to Quebec's William Dion in the final. Pat Simmons (curler)
Patrick (Pat) "Simms" Simmons (born November 21, 1974 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler. Simmons played on the 2014 and 2015 Canadian champion rink, the latter year as skip. As a skip, he has also represented Saskatchewan in four straight Briers from 2005 to 2008 and again in 2011. He has also represented Alberta twice at the Brier. Career Simmons made it to his first Brier in 2005 after winning his first provincial championship, defeating Daryl Williamson in that year's Saskatchewan final with teammates Jeff Sharp, Chris Haichert and Ben Hebert. At the Brier, he skipped Saskatchewan to a 6–5 finish, in a four-way tie for fifth place, out of the playoffs. Simmons was the Saskatchewan provincial championship for the second time in a row in 2006, defeating Bruce Korte in the final. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Teams earned points in every event with the top 30 qualifying for the season ending " V.O. Cup", today known as the Players' Championship. Its first president and CEO was Lukowich. Bradley D. Heidt2017 Brier Media Guide: Previous Rosters is a Canadian curler from Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. He is a two-time provincial champion. Career In 1982, Heidt and his team of Wayne Charteris, John Whetter and Warren Rechenmacher finished 5-6 at the Labatt Brier. He won his second provincial championship 13 years later, sending him to the 1995 Labatt Brier. His team of Mark Dacey, Charteris and Dan Ormsby finished the round robin in second place with an 8-3 record. He then lost to Manitoba's Kerry Burtnyk in the final, to finish second. Heidt remains skipping one of the top teams in Saskatchewan. Canadian Junior Curling Championships
The Canadian Junior Curling Championships is an annual curling tournament held to determine the best junior-level curling team in Canada. Junior level curlers must be under the age of 21 as of June 30 in the year prior to the tournament. The event began in 1950 as the National Schoolboys Championship, and all members of a team had to attend the same high school. Efforts to establish the event were led by Ken Watson, Maurice Smith and others. From 1950 to 1957, teams played for the Victor Sifton Trophy. Sifton's newspaper chain was the sponsor of the event during this time. From 1958 to 1975 the event was sponsored by Pepsi and was known as the Pepsi Schoolboys, becoming the Pepsi Juniors in 1976. At that time, the age limit of the event was adjusted to match the eligibility for the World Junior Curling Championships which began in 1975.
