Break The Ice (music Festival)
Break the Ice (BTI) was a hardcore punk festival held in Melbourne, Australia in 2012, 2013, and 2014. It was run by Broken Hive Records and though short-lived, it was a significant event in the Australian hardcore calendar, attracting hundreds of punters each year. History The festival began in 2012 as the feature date on the national tour for well-known band Trapped Under Ice. Inspiration for the fest comes from similar styled multi-day hardcore punk festivals in the USA such as This Is Hardcore and Sound and Fury. In 2013 the festival turned into a 2-day event with a more purposeful focus on other aspects of the hardcore music scene consisting of a trade market place, a bigger presence of local DIY labels, stalls selling vegan baked goods and an increased sense of community. Melbourne
Melbourne ( ; Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: ''Narrm'' or ''Naarm'') is the capital and most populous city of the Australian state of Victoria, and the second-most populous city in both Australia and Oceania. Bane (band)
Bane was an American hardcore punk band that began in 1995 as a side project between Aaron Dalbec (then of Converge) and Damon Bellorado. Dalbec approached Matt Firestone to sing and they played under the moniker of Gateway for a few shows, before Firestone parted ways to focus on other projects. Dalbec then approached Aaron Bedard (who had previously sung for the Worcester, Massachusetts hardcore band Backbone) about singing for Bane. They went into the studio in December 1995 with a few friends and released a five-song demo. The next year saw the release of their first EP, and many shows throughout central Massachusetts. In early 1997, Bane released ''Free to Think, Free to Be'' EP, and in 1998 the band released the '' Holding This Moment'' 7" and CD collection, and embarked upon their first US tour. Misery Signals
Misery Signals is an American-Canadian metalcore band formed in Wisconsin in 2002. History Formation (2002–2003) Misery Signals was formed after the disbanding of several bands, including 7 Angels 7 Plagues, Hamartia, and Compromise. Having played briefly with 7 Angels 7 Plagues, former Compromise vocalist, Jesse Zaraska, was approached by Ryan Morgan and Kyle Johnson for a new project which would become Misery Signals. Jeff Aust from Hamartia joined on as second guitar and Ryan Morgan's brother Branden joined as the band's drummer. Aust soon left the band and has since gone on to join With Honor. He was replaced by Stu Ross, a friend of Jesse Zaraska's from St. Albert, Alberta. In 2003 the band released its eponymous debut EP. Against is an Australian hardcore punk band from Brisbane, Australia. Vocalist Greg first formed the group in September 2001, with the intention of having fun with some friends and playing hardcore music with heart and a message. After signing with Common Bond Records, Against recorded and released their second EP, entitled ''My Hate My Choice'', to critical acclaim and has now sold over 2000 copies to date. Constant touring across Australia with bands such as Mindsnare and Champion, as well as sharing the stage with such bands as AFI, Terror, Madball, Cro-Mags, Boysetsfire and Silence The Epilogue, has helped pave their path to success and allowed them to thoroughly "road-test" their sound. Iron Mind
Iron Mind are a hardcore punk band from Melbourne, Australia that began in 2006, originally under the name of 'Hold Up'. The band takes influence from the NYHC sound and are notable for being one of the most popular bands of the hardcore genre in Australia. The band is currently signed to Resist Records. History Iron Mind toured Australia in 2012 in support of their album, ''Hell Split Open'', alongside Backtrack and Terror. They followed with shows in New Zealand in October. Their second album, ''Iron Mind'', was produced by Mike Deslandes (Blkout, Robotosaurus, Coerce) in the Dandenong Ranges; it was released in mid-January 2014 via Resist Records. Twitching Tongues
Twitching Tongues is an American metal band from California, founded in 2009 by brothers Colin and Taylor Young. The band has released four full-length albums'': Sleep Therapy'' in 2012, ''In Love There Is No Law'' in 2013, ''Disharmony'' in 2015, and ''Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred'' in 2018. They have also released two EPs – 2011's ''I & I (Insane and Inhumane)'' and 2012's ''Preacher Man.'' Mindsnare are an Australian hardcore band from Melbourne, Victoria.
