The Brazilian Confederation of Aquatic Sports ( pt, Confederação Brasileira de Desportos Aquáticos; CBDA) is the governing body of aquatic sports in Brazil. It was founded as the ''Brazilian Swimming Confederation'' ( pt, Confederação Brasileira de Natação; ''CBN'') on 21 October 1977 after dismembering from the Confederação Brasileira de Desportos, Brazilian Sports Confederation. The confederation was renamed in 1988 to reflect all modalities it manages: swimming, open water, water polo, diving and artistic swimming. 1999 Pan American Games
The 1999 Pan American Games, officially the XIII Pan American Games or the 13th Pan American Games, was a major international multi-sport event that was held from July 23 to August 8, 1999, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and surrounding towns and cities. Canoeing competitions started the day before the games officially begun. Approximately 5,000 athletes from 42 nations participated at the games. A total of 330 medal events in 34 sports and 42 disciplines. Financially, the 1999 games were a success, generating a surplus of $8.9 million through a combination of fiscal restraint and the contribution of nearly 20,000 volunteers. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom.
