Bertie Brayley
Albert Brayley (born 5 September 1981) is an English former footballer who played as a striker. Brayley played in the Football League with Swindon Town in the 2001–02 season before dropping into non-League football. Club career Brayley began his footballing career at Wimbledon, before moving to Aston Villa as a schoolboy. After finding the travel from Basildon to Birmingham to play for Aston Villa a challenge, Brayley joined West Ham United, the club he supported. At West Ham, Brayley was a member of their FA Youth Cup winning squad in 1999, scoring three goals in a 9–0 aggregate win over Coventry City. He signed professional forms in August 1999 but was released by the club without making any first team appearances. Brayley joined Football League Second Division side Queens Park Rangers but after the club was relegated and went into administration, he was released along with 15 other players in May 2001, having made no appearances for the club. Desmond Brayley, Baron Brayley
John Desmond Brayley, Baron Brayley MC DL (29 January 1917 – 16 March 1977) was a British Army officer and wealthy self made businessman and Labour Government Army minister. Army career Brayley was Welsh by birth, having been born in Pontypridd, Glamorgan. He went to the local grammar school. At the age of 17 he joined the Royal Artillery and later became a physical training instructor. He was an enthusiastic boxer and became Army Boxing Champion. During the war he served in the Parachute Regiment, winning the Military Cross in 1943 for action in the North African desert campaign. He was part of a unit – a forerunner for today's special forces, set up to train soldiers to parachute behind enemy lines and cause as much disruption to the enemy as possible. He also served in Sicily and Crete and was mentioned in despatches (23 September 1943). Edward Wedlake Brayley
Edward Wedlake Brayley (177323 September 1854) was an English historian and topographer. Brayley collaborated with his life-long friend, John Britton, on the first 6 volumes of ''The Beauties of England and Wales''. Early life Brayley was born at Lambeth, Surrey. He was apprenticed to the enamelling trade, but developed an early interest in literature. After completing his apprenticeship, Brayley was employed by Henry Bone (later a Royal Academician) to prepare and fire enamelled plates for small pictures in rings and trinkets. Later, when Bone was working on some exceptionally large enamels, Brayley prepared the plates for Bone's use and fired the finished pictures, continuing to do so for some years after he had become eminent as a topographer. Career His close friendship with John Britton lasted for sixty-five years. Edward William Brayley
Edward William Brayley FRS (1801 – 1 February 1870) was an English geographer, librarian, and science author. Early life Brayley was born in London, the son of Edward Wedlake Brayley, a notable antiquary, and his wife Anne (''c.'' 1771–1850). His early schooling, in the company of his brothers Henry and Horatio was private and sheltered. His upbringing was austere with little contact with other children or the world outside his home. He later studied at the London Institution and the Royal Institution under William Thomas Brande.Hays (2004) Brayley abandoned an early inclination to follow his father's interests for science. He published on diverse topics in several scientific journals including the ''Philosophical Magazine'', for which he became an editorial assistant between 1823 and 1844.
