Braydon Preuss
Braydon Preuss (born 16 June 1995) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Preuss was born and raised in Townsville, Queensland. He played rugby league until the age of 16 when friends convinced him to try Australian rules football. He began playing his junior football for Hermit Park in the local AFL Townsville competition before relocating to the Gold Coast and playing for Surfers Paradise in an attempt to increase his chances of being drafted. He was a member of the Gold Coast Suns Academy. AFL career He was drafted by North Melbourne with their first selection and fifteenth overall in the 2015 rookie draft. Surfers Paradise Australian Football Club (nicknamed The Demons) is a Gold Coast based club competing in the AFL Queensland QAFL Australian rules football competition. History The Surfers Paradise Australian Football Club was established in 1961 and competed in the Gold Coast Australian Football League's official inaugural season in 1962 with their home ground situated a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean on Beach Road. The club captured its first senior premiership in 1963 and back-to-back-to-back senior GCAFL flags followed in 1967, 1968 & 1969. More senior premierships were won by Surfers Paradise in 1972 & 1974. AFL Townsville
AFL Townsville is an amateur competition formed as the Townsville Australian Football League in 1955, the first contemporary AFL competition to be formed outside of the South East Queensland. It is based in the city of Townsville. For a short period in the 1980s, the competition was played during the summer months. The representative team is known as the Eagles and they wear similar guernseys to the Zillmere Eagles' old white and blue guernseys. History A Townsville representative team travelled to Cairns in 1884 to play one of the earliest recorded matches in Far North Queensland.
