Brava Island Championships
The Brava Island League is a regional championship played in Brava Island, Cape Verde. The championships are organized by Brava Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol da Brava, ARFB). The winner of the championship plays in the Cape Verdean football Championships of each season. History The league was founded around the 1980s. It has the fewest teams in the Capeverdean football or soccer and is also the smallest in area. From 2005 to 2010, it shared the fewest teams with the island of Sal, in 2011, Brava had the 10th fewest clubs until Sal added more clubs in 2014 and put the competition into two divisions. Title history Nô Pintcha has the most number of island titles with 11, Morabeza with 9, Académica and Sporting with two and Corôa and Juventude da Furna with only one title. Achada Furna is a settlement in the southern part of the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. It is situated 15 km east of the island capital São Filipe. At the 2010 census its population was 495. Sporting Clube da Brava ( Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Sporting Klubi da Brava'') is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Brava Island Division in Cape Verde. Sport Clube Morabeza is a football club in Cape Verde that plays in the Brava Island Division in Cape Verde. It is based in Nova Sintra the island of Brava and plays at Estádio Aquiles de Oliveira where all the clubs from Brava even those based outside the capital play. The club name's etymology is the name predominantly used in Cape Verde and it is used in other music albums and the hotel in the island of Sal. Its current coach is Alfredo Moreira, himself a former player. Together with Sporting, it is Brava's most successful teams.
