Brampton Centennial Secondary School (BCSS) is a state school, public high school located in Brampton, Ontario, Brampton, Ontario, Canada and is part of the Peel District School Board. In September 2008, BCSS had 1,775 students. History The first secondary school in Brampton opened in 1852 as Brampton High School with three students and its first principal A. Thompson. By 1888 it had an annual budget of $868.25. After a fire, the school building was reconstructed in 1977. Brampton Centennial Secondary School was built in 1967 — the Canadian Centennial year — to replace Brampton High School. School shooting On 28 May 1975 Michael Slobodian, a student at the school, brought two rifles to school with the intention of killing two particular teachers and himself. Chris Cuthbert (born September 20, 1957) is a Canadian sportscaster. He is the lead play-by-play commentator for ''NHL on Sportsnet'' and ''Hockey Night in Canada'', since 2021. Formerly, he worked for TSN, NBC, and CBC Sports in a multitude of roles. He was lead play-by-play voice for ice hockey at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for CTV, where he worked alongside Pierre McGuire, who also worked the tournament for NBC, and Ray Ferraro. The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) is a Crown agency of the Government of Ontario in Canada. It was legislated into creation in 1996 in response to recommendations made by the Royal Commission on Learning in February 1995. Kenneth Gilmour 'Ken' Whillans (8 August 1927 – 24 August 1990) served as Mayor of the City of Brampton from 1982 to 1990. Personal life and family Whillans was born in Ottawa. He had a twin brother, Don. Son Doug Whillans has run for public office on multiple ballots, was successful in 2014 and now serves as a City Councillor for Wards 2 and 6. As alderman Whillans led efforts to revamp Citizens Advisory Committees while in office as an alderman. Scott Thompson (born June 12, 1959) is a Canadian comedian and actor, best known for being a member of the comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall and for playing Brian on ''The Larry Sanders Show''. Early life Thompson, born John Scott Thompson, named after his uncle and later changed for the stage, was born in North Bay, Ontario, and grew up in Brampton. He is the second oldest of five boys. He attended Brampton Centennial Secondary School and was a witness to the 1975 Centennial Secondary School shooting. Career Corner was a member of the 1993 "dream team" of his cousin Wayne Middaugh and the brothers of Glenn and Russ Howard. Corner played lead for the team. All four players would skip teams to provincial championships in the future. In 1993, the team won the Brier and World Championship.
