Brabant (train)
The Brabant was an express train that linked Gare du Nord in Paris, France, with Brussels-South in Brussels, Belgium. The train was named after the historical Duchy of Brabant of which Brussels was the capital. Trans Europ Express The ''Brabant'' was introduced in the TEE-network to cope with the rising number of passengers between Paris and Brussels. This fourth TEE service between the two cities was planned to be the first through electric service on this railway line. However, due to the Big Freeze of 1963, the overhead lines works were behind schedule and at 26 May 1963 the service was started with a northbound only DMU, detached from the existing TEE ÃŽle de France. The Trans Europ Express, or Trans-Europe Express (TEE), was an international first-class railway service in western and central Europe that was founded in 1957 and ceased in 1995. SNCB Class 18 (Alsthom)
The Belgian Railways Class 18 was a type of electric locomotive operated by NMBS/SNCB of Belgium. They have been displaced from these workings by Thalys electric multiple units and were all retired from service by 1999. They were derived from the French SNCF CC 40100 express passenger locomotives. Their multi-voltage capabilities allowed them to work beyond Belgium's borders, mainly Paris - Brussels/Liège and Oostende - Cologne. The locomotives had an aluminum body with dark blue accents. The SNCF CC 40100 was a French class of quad-voltage electric locomotives. They were intended for high-performance passenger services on the Trans Europ Express (TEE) routes of the 1960s and 1970s. This non-stop international working required them to support the electrical standards of several networks. They are significant for combining three innovations in locomotive design: quad-voltage working, three-axle monomotor bogies and the new 'Nez Cassé' body style of French locomotives. The ''Île de France'' was an international express train on the PBA route (Paris–Brussels–Amsterdam). The train was named after the French region surrounding Paris. Trans Europ Express The ''Île de France'' was the French share of the initial Trans Europ Express (TEE) services on the PBA route. On 2 June 1957 the TEE services on the PBA route started with three trains. One of them, the TEE ''L'Oiseau Bleu'', only served the Paris–Brussels section; the other, the TEE ''Étoile du Nord'', linked Amsterdam with Paris. Both were existing services upgraded to TEE and were operated by Dutch and Belgian railways.
