Boxing At The 1982 Commonwealth Games
The 1982 Commonwealth Games were held in Brisbane, Australia, from 30 September to 9 October 1982. The Opening Ceremony was held at the QEII Stadium (named after Elizabeth II), in the Brisbane suburb of Nathan. The QEII Stadium was also the athletics and archery events venue. Other events were held at the purpose-built Sleeman Sports Complex in Chandler. The Chairman of the 1982 Commonwealth Games was Sir Edward Williams. The 1982 Commonwealth Games Logo was designed by Hugh Edwards, who was the winner of a nationwide competition held in 1978. The symbol is derived from the form of a bounding kangaroo. The three bands, forming stylized A's (for Australia), are in colours which are common to flags of many Commonwealth countries. The mascot for the games was a cartoon kangaroo called Matilda. Roy Nash
Royal Freeman Nash was the secretary-treasurer of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) from February 15, 1916, to September 1, 1917. Career Nash was a white author. Historian Patricia Bernstein described him in 2006 as a social worker. He headed the North Carolina branch of the NAACP. Before being made secretary, he had investigated fires in Cherokee County, Georgia, that the NAACP thought could be arson against Black people. His 1916 investigation also reported on attacks on Black people in Forsyth County, Georgia. Nash took office as secretary-treasurer in February 1916, but hadn't adopted a tangible program for the organization's future by mid-November. In February, Philip G. Peabody, a wealthy American, offered to donate $10,000, to the anti-lynching movement and wrote NAACP leader Moorfield Storey requesting a plan for how the organization would spend the money before he committed to donating it. David Clencie
David Clencie (born 1964 or 1965) is an Australian actor. He made his debut aged 15 in the children's television series ''Sam's Luck''. He was cast in the lead role of Sam Parkes, after impressing the producer while auditioning for the ABC network. He then appeared in police drama ''Cop Shop'' and the 1981 miniseries ''I Can Jump Puddles''. The following year, Clencie joined the cast of ''The Sullivans'' as Steve Sullivan, a role which he considered to be his big break. He also had roles in ''Home'', ''A Country Practice'', and ''Starting Out''. From 1985 until 1986, Clencie played Danny Ramsay in the soap opera ''Neighbours''. He left the cast after he and the producers agreed that his character would be rested. Howard Grant (boxer)
Howard Grant (born June 22, 1966 in Saint Ann, Jamaica) is a retired male Canadian boxer, competing in the light-welterweight (– 63.5 kg) division. A resident of MontrΓ©al, Quebec, he represented Canada at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where he was defeated in the round of 16 by Sweden's Lars Myrberg. Neil Haddock
Neil Haddock (born 22 June 1964) is a Welsh former lightweight and super featherweight boxer. Before turning professional he won a silver medal as a lightweight at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. His early career as a professional lightweight was not very notable, but after a year out from boxing caused by an eye injury, he returned fitter and lighter as a super featherweight. In 1992 he became the Welsh super featherweight champion, taking the British title just five months later. He retired from boxing in 1994.
