Joseph Jacobs (29 August 1854 – 30 January 1916) was an Australian folklorist, translator, literary critic, social scientist, historian and writer of English literature who became a notable collector and publisher of English folklore. Jacobs was born in Sydney to a Jewish family. His work went on to popularize some of the world's best known versions of English fairy tales including "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", "The Three Little Pigs", " Jack the Giant Killer" and " The History of Tom Thumb". He published his English fairy tale collections: ''English Fairy Tales'' in 1890 and ''More English Fairy Tales'' in 1893 but also went on after and in between both books to publish fairy tales collected from continental Europe as well as Jewish, Celtic and Indian fairytales which made him one of the most popular writers of fairytales for the English language. Joseph Jacobs (c. 1813 – 13 October 1870), also known by the stage names The Wizard Jacobs, Jacobs the Wizard, and The Great Jacobs, was an English magician, improvisatore, and ventriloquist. Biography Jacobs was born to a Jewish family in Canterbury, Kent. He appeared on stage at an early age, visiting Dover, Brighton, Bath, and other provincial towns during the summer and autumn of 1834. He first appeared in London at Horn's Tavern, Kennington, in 1835, where he performed the Chinese ring trick. Four years later he had the honour of performing before the Princess Augusta at Brighton. At the Strand Theatre in 1841, he made a great show of expensive apparatus in imitation of J. H. Anderson. He performed in 1846 the trick of turning ink into transparent water in which goldfish swam, and in 1850 he introduced the trick of producing from under a shawl bowls of water containing goldfish, afterwards throwing the shawl on the floor, and then, on raising it again, disclosi ...

Josef Carl Peter Jacobs (15 May 1894 – 29 July 1978) PlM, was a German flying ace with 48 victories during the First World War. The victory total of the prewar flier tied him with Werner Voss for fourth place among the war's German aces. His skill in aerial warfare brought him squadron and wing-level commands. By war's end, he was the leading ace flying the Fokker Triplane. Postwar, Jacobs fought the communists attempting to take over Germany, before becoming a flight instructor for the Turkish Army. He was also racing both power boats and automobiles, as well as bobsledding. In line with the latter, he became a director of the Adler automobile works. In the 1930s, he also began repairing and manufacturing airplanes. As Hitler rose to power, Jacobs joined the Luftwaffe reserves as a major, but refused to join the Nazi party. Joseph Jacobs (born 1 October 1960) is a British former boxer who as an amateur was ABA lightweight champion in 1986, and as a professional was British super featherweight champion in 1990, going on to fight for a world title. Career Born in Manchester, Jacobs boxed out of the Fox ABC in Ancoats as an amateur, and won the ABA lightweight (60 kg) championship in 1986. He represented England and won a bronze medal in the -60 Kg division at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland following in the footsteps of his father Joey Jacobs Sr. He made his professional debut in October 1986, beating Tony Richards on points.
