Amé Bourdon
Amé Bourdon (1636 or 1638 – December 21, 1706) was a French physician and anatomist. Personal life Bourdon was born in Cambrai, France, in 1636 or 1638, the son of an engineer in the service of the Spanish Crown. Having studied science extensively, he decided to attend the university in Douai at the age of 37. He practiced as a physician in Cambrai for much of his life, and died on December 21, 1706. Little else is known of him. Works In 1678, Amé Bourdon published his double folio anatomical plates, ''Nouvelles tables anatomiques'', most likely through the assistance of his patron Jacques Theodore de Brias, archevêque de Cambrai. The work consists of 16 individual plates, several of which can be combined to form complete human figures. The plates, which were drawn by Bourdon himself, were created using the etching needle and the burin on copperplate and are signed by the engraver Daniel Le Bossu ( fl. 1671-1678). Eugene Bourdon (architect)
Eugene Bourdon (16 July 1870 – 1 July 1916) was a Professor of Architectural Design at the Glasgow School of Art, and was influential in the development of architectural thinking and education in Glasgow in the early 20th century. Early life and education Bourdon was born in Paris on 16 July 1870. He was educated at the Condorcet Lycee, and received his Bachelier-des-lettres in 1888. Following this, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris as a pupil of the Atelier Daumet where he obtained the Diploma (ADFG). While at the Ecole he obtained medals in Architecture Decoration and Drawing, culminating in a medal at the 1896 salon. Work and influence Following graduation, he went to work for the French Government as an inspector for the Exposition Universelle of 1900. Eugène Bourdon
Eugène Bourdon (1808–1884) was a French watchmaker and engineer. He is the inventor of the Bourdon tube pressure gauge for which he obtained a patent in 1849. Biography Eugène Bourdon was born in Paris on 8 April 1808, the son of a silk merchant. From elementary school, he showed an interest in mechanical devices. His father sent him to Nuremberg for 2 years to learn German. Back in Paris, he assisted his father in his business until his father died in 1830. Eugène then worked in an optician's shop until 1832, when he set up his own workshop. Eugène specialized in scientific instruments and model steam engines. While searching for a mechanism to measure gas pressure, without the use of a mercury manometer, he imagined using the bending of a circular tube made of a metal with good elastic properties. François Louis Bourdon
François Louis Bourdon (11 January 1758 – 22 June 1798), also known as Bourdon de l'Oise, was a French politician of the Revolutionary period and ''procureur'' at the ''parlement'' of Paris. Biography Born in Rouy-le-Petit ( Somme), he was from early on an advocate of revolutionary doctrines, and took an active part in the insurrection of 10 August 1792. Representing the '' départment'' of the Oise in the National Convention, he voted for the immediate execution of King Louis XVI. He accused the Girondists of relations with the Bourbons, then turned against Maximilien Robespierre, who had him expelled from the Jacobin Club for his conduct as commissioner of the Convention with the French Revolutionary Army troops in La Rochelle. Luc Bourdon
Joseph Luc Bourdon (February 16, 1987 – May 29, 2008) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League from 2006 until 2008. After overcoming childhood arthritis, he was selected third overall in the 2003 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) draft and played for the Val-d'Or Foreurs, Moncton Wildcats, and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, spending four seasons in the QMJHL. The Canucks drafted Bourdon with their first selection, tenth overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and he split his professional career with the Canucks and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Manitoba Moose. Luc Bourdon (born 1952) is a Canadian documentary filmmaker and video artist from Quebec known for his 2008 film ''The Memories of Angels''. Robert Gregory Bourdon (born January 20, 1979) is an American musician, best known as the drummer and co-founding member of the American rock band Linkin Park. Early life Bourdon was born in Calabasas, California. He received classical piano lessons at a young age. He was inspired to play the drums after attending an Aerosmith concert, where he was personally introduced to drummer Joey Kramer. He also cites Tower of Power and Earth, Wind and Fire as his early influences. Rosario Bourdon
Joseph Charles Rosario Bourdon (March 6, 1885 – April 24, 1961) was a French Canadian cellist, violinist, conductor, arranger and composer. He was a child prodigy skilled with many musical instruments. Bourdon worked much of his life for the Victor Talking Machine Company where he exerted considerable influence. Childhood Bourdon was born in Longueuil, Quebec into a family with musical talents. His father was an amateur singer. Louis-Honoré Bourdon, his half-brother was a renowned impresario. Caroline Derome, his mother, began Bourdon's musical instruction with the cello when he was seven. She would later marry Jean-Baptiste Dubois, a professional cellist who would further instruct Bourdon in the instrument. Around this same time Bourdon learned to play the piano. Sébastien Bourdon (2 February 1616 – 8 May 1671) was a French painter and engraver. His ''chef d'œuvre'' is ''The Crucifixion of St. Peter'' made for the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris, Notre Dame.
