Bernard Germain De Lacépède
Bernard-Germain-Étienne de La Ville-sur-Illon, comte de Lacépède or La Cépède (; 26 December 17566 October 1825) was a French naturalist and an active freemason. He is known for his contribution to the Comte de Buffon's great work, the ''Histoire Naturelle''. Biography Lacépède was born at Agen in Guienne. His education was carefully conducted by his father, and the early perusal of Buffon's Natural History ('' Histoire naturelle, générale et particulière'') awakened his interest in that branch of study, which absorbed his chief attention. ''Bostrychus expatria'' is a species of freshwater fish in the family Butidae endemic to Lake Manguao on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Anatomy and morphology ''Bostrychus expatria'' is a small fish reaching a length of . They appear as standard members of their family, with non-hydrodynamically-shaped bodies typical of bottom-dwelling fish. It possesses two completely separate dorsal fins, the first one supported by spines. The caudal fin is truncately-shaped, usually not much thicker than the peduncle itself. Its eyes are located dorsally, another trait commonly seen in benthic fish. John Treadwell Nichols (June 11, 1883 – November 10, 1958) was an American ichthyologist and ornithologist. Helen Kay Larson
Helen K. Larson is an ichthyologist who specialises in the fishes of the Indo-Pacific. In the 1960s and 1970s, she attended the University of Guam to study for her Bachelor's and master's degrees and while there she also worked in the local Marine Laboratory. While there she collected and described a new species of the dwarf goby from the genus '' Eviota'', '' Eviota pellucida'', the description being published in 1976 in the journal ''Copeia''. Max Carl Wilhelm Weber van Bosse or Max Wilhelm Carl Weber (5 December 1852, in Bonn – 7 February 1937, in Eerbeek) was a German-Dutch zoologist and biogeographer. Weber studied at the University of Bonn, then at the Humboldt University in Berlin with the zoologist Eduard Carl von Martens (1831–1904). He obtained his doctorate in 1877. Weber taught at the University of Utrecht then participated in an expedition to the Barents Sea. He became Professor of Zoology, Anatomy and Physiology at the University of Amsterdam in 1883. In the same year he received naturalised Dutch citizenship. His discoveries as leader of the Siboga Expedition led him to propose Weber's line, which encloses the region in which the mammalian fauna is exclusively Australasian, as an alternative to Wallace's Line. Butidae
Butidae is a family of sleeper gobies in the order Gobiiformes. The family was formerly classified as a subfamily of the Eleotridae but the 5th Edition of Fishes of the World classifies it as a family in its own right. Molecular phylogenetic analyses have demonstrated that the Butidae are a sister clade to the clade containing the families Gobiidae and Gobionellidae and that the Eleotridae is a sister to both of these clades. This means that the Eloetridae as formerly classified was paraphyletic and that its subfamilies should be raised to the status of families. The species in the Butidae are largely restricted to tropical and sub-tropical waters of Africa, Asia, Australia, and Oceania.
