Randers Municipality is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. Borup Fiord Pass
Borup Fiord Pass is a glacier-carved valley on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut, Canada. The valley contains a natural spring which carries fluids from the subsurface to the surface, sometimes passing through the glacial ice in the process. The spring is the only known place where sulfur from a natural spring is deposited over ice. At the Borup Fiord Pass spring, hydrogen sulphide gas in the water is converted to stable deposits of either elemental sulfur, the most common material in the deposit, or gypsum. The process by which hydrogen sulfide becomes sulfur is complex, and most often occurs when microbes, like bacteria, are present. Borup Island ( da, Borup Ø), also known as West Jensen Island, is an uninhabited island of the Lincoln Sea in Peary Land, far northern Greenland. The island was formerly named after Danish zoologist Adolf Severin Jensen (1866 - 1953), professor at the University of Copenhagen, who had carried out extensive research on the fisheries of West Greenland, and who was a member of the committee of the 1931–34 Three-year Expedition ''(Treårsekspeditionen)'' Geography It is a long island off the western side of the Nansen Land Peninsula on the other side of the Thomas Thomsen Fjord, part of the De Long Fjord system. Axel Borup-Jørgensen
Axel Borup-Jørgensen (22 November 1924 – 15 October 2012) was a Danish composer. He was born in Hjørring in Denmark, but grew up in Sweden. He died in Birkerød. He studied piano at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. As a composer, apart from studies in instrumentation with Poul Schierbeck and Jørgen Jersild, he is self-taught. He emerged on the international spotlight when his ''Nordisk Sommerpastorale'', Op. 51 (Nordic Summer Pastoral, 1964) won first prize in the competition for a short orchestral work held by Denmarks Radio in 1965. Morten Børup
Morten Børup (1446–1526) was a Danish educator, cathedral cantor and Latin poet. Early life and education Born in Skanderborg, he first worked as a farm labourer, suffering considerable abuse. When he was 27 he fled to Aarhus, where he managed to enter the cathedral school. Supported by his teachers and by Archdean Morten Krabbe, he attended the newly founded Copenhagen University where he graduated in theology. Børup continuing his studies at the University of Cologne after that in 1487, receiving a doctorate. Career On returning to Denmark, he became principal of the Aarhus cathedral school around 1490, where he gained an excellent reputation. He remained school principal until 1520. Among his students, were the Lutheran reformers Jørgen Sadolin and Hans Tausen. Børup wrote a number of Latin plays for the benefit of his students and they are among the first publicly performed plays in Denmark (1501). Yvette Borup Andrews (February 28, 1891 – April 12, 1959) was an American photographer associated with the American Museum of Natural History. With the museum's director, Roy Chapman Andrews, she traveled to Central Asia twice during 1916-18 for the museum's First and Second Asiatic Zoological Expeditions. Early life Yvette Huen Borup was born in Paris to American parents, Henry Dana Borup (1854–1916) and Mary Watson Brandreth Borup (1854–1897). Her father was an American military attaché in Paris and Berlin before World War I. Her maternal grandfather, George A. Brandreth, and her great-grandfather, Congressman Aaron Ward, were both New York politicians. Her great-great-grandfather, Elkanah Watson, was a notable New York businessman. Her older brother, George Brandreth Borup (1885–1912), was assistant to Robert Peary on the North Pole Expedition, and wrote a book about his experiences in the Arctic. Borups Allé
Borups Allé is a major artery in the northwestern part of inner Copenhagen, Denmark. The 3.2 km long street runs from Jagtvej at Nuuks Plads in the southeast to Bellahøj in the northwest. Just before Hulgårdsvej, part of Ring 2, Borups Allé is joined by Bispeengbuen, an elevated road section that connects it to Åboulevard-Ågade and H. C. Andersens Boulevard in the city centre. The rest of Borups Allé is the first leg of the National Road 16, part of the Danish national road network. It continues as a six-lane road to Frederikssundsvej where it becomes Hareskovvej and later the Hillerød Motorway at Utterslev Mose. Location Borups Allé is the direct continuation of Rantzausgade. The initial part of the street passes below the elevated Bispeengbuen viaduct and Ringbanen S-train line.
