Bolsover South Railway Station
Bolsover South is a former railway station in Carr Vale, Bolsover, Derbyshire, England. History The station was opened by the LD&ECR in March 1897 as plain "Bolsover". It was closed to all traffic by British Railways in December 1951, primarily due to the prohibitive cost of repairing and maintaining Bolsover Tunnel. Track lifting started immediately after closure and was completed within weeks, though the station building survived as an increasingly vandalised eyesore for some years. The photograph opposite shows the characteristic Station Master's house in 1963, the station itself was behind the bush on the extreme right of the photo. Also behind the photo to the left was a railway-served jam factory. The station was built in Carr Vale and was one of only two places on the LD&ECR where a level crossing was necessary, the other being Skellingthorpe. Bolsover (district)
Bolsover District is a local government district in Derbyshire, England. It is named after the town of Bolsover, which is near the geographic centre of the district, but the council is based in Clowne. At the 2011 Census, the district had a population of 75,866. The district is along with North East Derbyshire, Borough of Chesterfield and Bassetlaw District is a non-constituent member of the Sheffield City Region. Ollerton railway station is a former railway station in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, England. History The station was opened by the LD&ECR in 1896 and closed to local passenger traffic in 1955, though Summer holiday excursions to and from the East Coast continued to call until September 1964. Edwinstowe railway station is a former railway station in Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire, England. History The station was opened by the Lancashire, Derbyshire and East Coast Railway in 1896 and closed by British Railways on 2 January 1956, though the last train ran on 31 December 1955. The station was envisaged as the centre of the line's passenger traffic and was one of only three to have a Refreshment room, the others being and .
