Bolands
Bolans is a community on the south-western end of the island of Antigua, headtown of the Saint Mary's Parish. It was once an agrarian community but has slowly been transformed into a centre of tourist activity. There are those in the community who involve themselves in agricultural activity, more as an avenue of feeding themselves or adding some needed income. Bolans is home to the world-famous Jolly Beach Resort as well as Jolly Harbour Marina and Boatyard which provides a sheltered dockage with 24-hour security and a full-service boatyard. It had a population of 1,888 in 2001. Antigua and Barbuda is an island nation made up of: Antigua island which is divided into six parishes; and of the two dependencies of Barbuda island and Redonda island. Although Barbuda and Redonda are called dependencies, they are integral parts of the state, making them essentially administrative divisions. Dependency is simply their title. Saint Mary is a parish of Antigua and Barbuda on the island of Antigua. It had a population of 7,341 in 2011. Geography The highest point in the parish is Mount Obama. Education According to the 2011 census, 27.59% of the parish was enrolled in full-time education, with 1,679 being school-aged. Demographics 2.74% of the population or 201 people (as of 2011) were victims of any crime, with housebreaking taking up half of all crimes in the parish. Only 33.01% of households had internet access. 78.93% of households had access to Cable TV and 1.36% had access to Satellite TV.
