Boggabilla Railway Line
The Boggabilla railway line is a disused railway line in New South Wales, Australia. It branches from the Mungindi railway line at Camurra and ran for 130 kilometres to Boggabilla. Construction When the line was first approved, few could have envisaged the development of grain production after the 1940s in the area. It was mainly grazing country then. The Boggabilla line was authorised mainly to ensure that the output of graziers in the area went south through New South Wales ports rather than north, across the border to Queensland. The line involved only light earthworks, but did include a number of watercourses to be crossed. ''Railway Digest'' is a monthly magazine, published in Sydney, covering contemporary railways of Australia. Overview The magazine's publisher is the Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS), NSW Division. The first issue was published in March 1963 under the name ''New South Wales Digest'' and regular publication commenced with the May 1963 edition. It was renamed in January 1983. In January 1985 it changed paper size from SRA5 to A4. North Star, New South Wales
North Star is a small village in the Gwydir Shire, located in northern New South Wales near the Queensland border. At the 2006 census, North Star had a population of 327 people in the surrounding area, with a population of around 50 in the actual village. History European settlement of North Star began in around 1888, when five brothers of the Sutton family took up land holdings in the area. Mungindi Line
The Mungindi railway line is a railway line in northern New South Wales, Australia. It branches from the Main North line at Werris Creek station and heads north-west through the towns of Gunnedah and Narrabri before reaching Moree which for many years was the railhead before the extension to Mungindi was constructed. The line is currently truncated to Weemelah between Moree and Mungindi. Passenger trains still operate to Moree, and goods trains (mainly wheat) operate to Camurra. As of 1 September 2009, services have been suspended between Camurra and Weemelah.
