Bodi White
Mack A. "Bodi" White, Jr. (born April 7, 1956) is an American politician from Louisiana who has represented District 6 in the Louisiana State Senate since 2012. A Republican, White previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 64 between 2004 and 2012. Electoral history White was first elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2003, succeeding Tony Perkins. In 2011, White successfully ran for the Louisiana State Senate's 6th district, narrowly defeating Exxon executive Mike Mannino in the first round. Louisiana's 6th State Senate district is one of 39 districts in the Louisiana State Senate. It has been represented by Republican Bodi White since 2012. Geography District 6 snakes along a portion of Louisiana's Florida Parishes, including parts of East Baton Rouge Parish outside of Baton Rouge and smaller sections of Livingston, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa Parishes. The district covers some or all of Ponchatoula, Hammond, and Central, as well as a small part of Lake Pontchartrain. The points of the compass are a set of horizontal, radially arrayed compass directions (or azimuths) used in navigation and cartography. A compass rose is primarily composed of four cardinal directions—north, east, south, and west—each separated by 90 degrees, and secondarily divided by four ordinal (intercardinal) directions—northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest—each located halfway between two cardinal directions. Sharon Weston Broome (born October 1, 1956) is the mayor-president of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She served in the Louisiana State Senate representing the 15th district from 2005 to 2016. She was elected mayor-president in a runoff election held on December 10, 2016. Broome is the first African-American woman to serve as mayor-president. From 2008 to 2016, Broome was the President Pro Tempore of the state Senate. In 2011, she was elected to her second full Senate term without opposition.
