Bobby Hupp
Robert Craig Hupp (June 22, 1877, Grand Rapids – December 7, 1931, Detroit) was an Americans, American Automobile industry, automobile engineer and company founder. Biography Hupp worked for Oldsmobile, where he co-designed the Oldsmobile Curved Dash, Curved Dash Runabout (car), runabout. He also worked at Ford Motor Company. In 1909, he co-founded Hupp Motor Car Company, with Charles Hastings, formerly of Oldsmobile, who put up the first US$8500 toward manufacturing Hupp's car. They were joined by investors J. Walter Drake, Joseph Drake, John Baker, and Edwin Denby. Drake was elected president; Hupp was vice president and general manager. Emil Nelson, formerly of Oldsmobile and Packard, joined the company as chief engineer. Hastings became assistant general manager. Detroit, the largest city in the state of Michigan, was settled in 1701 by French colonists. It is the first European settlement above tidewater in North America., p. 56. Founded as a New France fur trading post, it began to expand during the 19th century with American settlement around the Great Lakes.
