Bobby Ertanto
Bobby Ertanto (, born 2 August 1960) is a retired badminton player from Indonesia who specialized in doubles. Career Paired with a variety of fellow countrymen, he shared the Malaysia Open title in 1983, the Thailand Open title in 1985, the Badminton World Cup title in 1986, and the Asian Championships in 1987. He won mixed doubles at the 1986 Malaysia Open with Verawaty Wiharjo. Ertanto earned a bronze medal with Christian Hadinata at the 1983 IBF World Championships in Copenhagen. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It was founded in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) with nine member nations (Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales). In 1981 the IBF merged with the World Badminton Federation, and on 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, the name of the organization was changed to Badminton World Federation (BWF). Christian Hadinata (, born 11 December 1949) is a former Chinese Indonesian badminton player. Profile Though early in his career he was a fine singles player who reached the final of the prestigious All-England Championship in 1973, Christian's success in doubles earned him recognition as one of the great doubles players in badminton history. He won two gold medals at the 1980 IBF World Championships in Jakarta, in men's doubles with Ade Chandra, and in mixed doubles with Imelda Wiguna. He played for Indonesia for 15 years, beginning his career in 1971 at the Asian championships in Indonesia and managed to become a mixed doubles champion with Retno Koestijah. Verawaty Fadjrin (; 1 October 1957 – 21 November 2021) was an Indonesian badminton player who won international titles spanning from the late 1970s to the end of the 1980s. Tall and powerful, at one time or another she played each of the three variations of the sport (singles, doubles, and mixed doubles) at the highest world level. Career During a relatively brief period as a regular singles competitor, Fadjrin won the 1980 IBF World Championships in Jakarta over fellow countrywoman Ivana Lie. The Malaysia Open is an annual badminton tournament that has been held since 1937. It has been played in various locations such as Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang, Selangor, and Kuantan. Badminton Asia Championships
The Badminton Asia Championships (formerly Asian Badminton Championships until 2006) is a tournament organized by governing body Badminton Asia to crown the best badminton players in Asia. The tournament started in 1962 and is held annually since 1991. The event had rotated between team and individual competitions before the team event became null since 1994. At the 2003 event however, there is a controversy when China decided to pull out from the tournament at the last minute. Head coach Li Yongbo said that the tournament did not award any ranking points for the 2004 Summer Olympics event and wanted to give his players more time to rest.
