Bobbie Cheema-Grubb
Dame Parmjit Kaur "Bobbie" Cheema-Grubb DBE (born Parmjit-kaur Cheema; 6 October 1966), styled The Hon. Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb, is a judge of the King's Bench Division of the High Court of Justice of England and Wales. She is the first Asian woman to serve as a High Court judge in the United Kingdom. Early life and education Parmjit-kaur Cheema was born to Indian Sikh Punjabi parents who came to the United Kingdom from India in the 1960s. She grew up in Leeds, and attended City of Leeds School before studying law at King's College London. Legal career Cheema-Grubb was called to the bar in 1989 by Gray's Inn. In 2006, she became the first Asian woman to be appointed a Junior Treasury Counsel. In 2007, she became a recorder. In 2013, she was appointed Queen's Counsel (QC). She served as a Senior Treasury Counsel and was authorised to sit as a deputy High Court judge. Gray's Inn
The Honourable Society of Gray's Inn, commonly known as Gray's Inn, is one of the four Inns of Court (professional associations for barristers and judges) in London. To be called to the bar in order to practise as a barrister in England and Wales, an individual must belong to one of these inns. Located at the intersection of High Holborn and Gray's Inn Road in Central London, the Inn is a professional body and provides office and some residential accommodation for barristers. It is ruled by a governing council called "Pension," made up of the Masters of the Bench (or "benchers,") and led by the Treasurer, who is elected to serve a one-year term. 2017 Finsbury Park Attack
The 2017 Finsbury Park attack was a terror-attack in Finsbury Park, London, England, on 19 June 2017. A van was driven into pedestrians in Finsbury Park, London, by Darren Osborne, causing one death and injuring at least nine people. This occurred near the Muslim Welfare House, from Finsbury Park Mosque. A man who had earlier collapsed and was receiving first aid died at the scene. The incident was investigated by counter-terrorism police as a terrorist attack. On 23 June, Darren Osborne of Cardiff was charged with terrorism-related murder and attempted murder. In early February 2018 at Woolwich Crown Court, he was found guilty on both counts and was sentenced to life imprisonment. David Fuller
David Fuller (born 4 September 1954) is an engineer, convicted English murderer and necrophile. In 2021, he was convicted of the murders of Wendy Knell, 25, and Caroline Pierce, 20, whom he strangled and sexually assaulted after breaking into their homes, months apart in 1987, in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, in what became known as the Bedsit murders. The killer's DNA had been known since a cold case review in 2007, and analysis of the samples in the two cases would later prove that the murders were committed by the same unidentified perpetrator. Fuller was eventually identified as the perpetrator in 2020 when a match was made between his DNA and the samples from the case. Constance Briscoe (born 18 May 1957 in England) is a former barrister, and was one of the first black female recorders in England and Wales. In May 2014, she was jailed for three counts of doing an act tending to pervert the course of justice in '' R v Huhne and Pryce''. She was disbarred and removed from the judiciary. Legal career Briscoe studied Law at Newcastle University and graduated with a 2:2, financing her studies with several casual jobs, including working in a hospice.
