Bob Simmons (American Football Coach)
Bob Simmons (born June 13, 1948) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Oklahoma State University–Stillwater from 1995 to 2000, compiling a record of 30–38. Livingston, Alabama
Livingston is a city in and the county seat of Sumter County, Alabama, United States and the home of the University of West Alabama. By an act of the state legislature, it was incorporated on January 10, 1835. At the 2010 census the population was 3,485, up from 3,297 in 2000. The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas, USA. It consists of ten full-member universities. It is a member of Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for all sports. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the higher of two levels of NCAA Division I football competition. The 2000 NCAA Division I-A football season ended with the Oklahoma Sooners claiming their seventh national championship and their thirty-seventh conference championship, the first of each since the departure of head coach Barry Switzer. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was in his second season as head coach, having been the defensive coordinator of Steve Spurrier's 1996 National Champion Florida Gators, and also having helped Bill Snyder turn the Kansas State Wildcats around in the early 1990s. Stoops erased a three-game losing streak against rival Texas by a score of 63–14, one of the worst defeats in Texas' football history. 1999 NCAA Division I-A Football Season
The 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season saw Florida State named national champions, defeating Virginia Tech in the BCS Sugar Bowl. Florida State became the first team in history to start out preseason No. 1 and remain there through the entire season. Their 12–0 season gave them 109 victories in the '90s, the most for any decade. Virginia Tech also had a remarkable season behind freshman quarterback Michael Vick, who was being touted as college football's best player. Vick was outshone in the national championship game by Florida State wide receiver Peter Warrick. Warrick had early problems with the law, charged with a misdemeanor he sat out two games early in the season. But he scored three touchdowns in the title game, earning MVP honors. The 1998 NCAA Division I-A football season, play of college football in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the Division I-A level, began in late summer 1998 and culminated with the major bowl games in early January 1999. The 1997 Alamo Bowl featured the 1997 Purdue Boilermakers football team, Purdue Boilermakers, and the 1997 Oklahoma State Cowboys football team, Oklahoma State Cowboys. Oklahoma State took an early 3–0 lead on a field goal. Purdue responded with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Billy Dicken, to take a 7–3 lead. The teams traded field goals before half time, and Purdue led 10–6 at halftime. In the second half, quarterback Billy Dicken rushed one yard for a touchdown increasing Purdue's lead to 17–6. Running back Jamaal Fobbs sprinted 21 yards for a touchdown pulling OSU to within 17–13. Wide receiver Vinny Sutherland changed the momentum by running for a 19-yard touchdown, extending Purdue's lead to 24–13.
