Bob Shennan
Robert Duncan James "Bob" Shennan (born 18 March 1962, Wirral, Cheshire) is a British media executive and current Director of Audio at BBC Studios. He was appointed to the role in April 2022, having previously held the positions of director, BBC Radio and Music, controller of BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music, and group managing director of the BBC. Early life He was educated at Lancaster Royal Grammar School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Career Shennan has been a senior executive in radio and television for a number of years. He started as a journalist at Hereward Radio in Peterborough from 1984–7. He joined BBC Sport in 1987 as a trainee radio sport producer and was part of the team that founded BBC Radio Five Live. After working as head of BBC Sport where he had overall responsibility for sports coverage on BBC radio and television, he was appointed head of BBC Radio 5 Live in 2000. Wirral Urban District
Wirral Urban District was an urban district in Cheshire, England from 1933 to 1974. It was created from part of the disbanded Wirral Rural District and covered an area in the south-west of the Wirral Peninsula. The civil parishes of Barnston, Gayton, Heswall cum Oldfield, Irby, Pensby, and Thurstaston were entirely within its boundaries. Radio Academy
The Radio Academy is a registered charity dedicated to "the encouragement, recognition and promotion of excellence in UK broadcasting and audio production". It was formed in 1983 and is run via a board of trustees, with a chair and a deputy chair, and a managing director. Their responsibilities include designing, planning, and implementing projects and programmes. In an episode of '' The Russell Brand Show'' broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday 18 October 2008, comedian Russell Brand and presenter Jonathan Ross made prank calls to actor Andrew Sachs that created controversy in the United Kingdom. Brand and Ross called Sachs to interview him on air; when he did not answer, they left lewd messages on his answering machine, including comments about Brand's relationship with Sachs' granddaughter Georgina Baillie. After initially receiving little attention, a 26 October article in '' The Mail on Sunday'' led to widespread criticism of Brand, Ross and the editorial decisions of the BBC. The event became known as Sachsgate or Manuelgate (a reference to Sachs' ''Fawlty Towers'' character Manuel). Lesley Douglas (born 7 June 1963) is a British former radio executive.
