Robert Edwin Charles (24 July 193617 April 2016) was an Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives from March 1990 to October 2004, representing the Division of La Trobe, Victoria. Charles was born in Covington, Kentucky and educated at Purdue University Purdue University is a public land-grant research university in West Lafayette, Indiana, and the flagship campus of the Purdue University system. The Division of La Trobe is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Victoria. It is located in the outer eastern/south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It includes the suburbs of Berwick, Beaconsfield, Officer and Pakenham, and the towns of Gembrook, Emerald and Cockatoo.
