Bob Carroll (author)
Robert Nuehardt Carroll Jr. (July 10, 1936 – August 25, 2009) was an American sportswriter and sports historian. Carroll was best known for his contributions to American football research. He was the founder and executive director of the Professional Football Researchers Association (PFRA), and edited the group's newsletter, ''The Coffin Corner'', until his death in 2009. He was co-author of ''The Hidden Game of Football'' (with John Thorn and Pete Palmer), as well as ''Total Football: The Official Encyclopedia of the National Football League''. Carroll was the author of more than twenty books, most notably ''Pro Football: When the Grass Was Real'' and ''Baseball Between the Lies''. Bob Carroll (singer/actor)
Bob Carroll (June 8, 1918 – November 12, 1994) was an American big band singer and stage, film, and television actor. Early years Bob Carroll was born Mark Kaufman in New York, NY. The son of a piano salesman, Carroll attended high school in Brooklyn. Singer Carroll's singing career was interrupted by three years' service in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he returned to civilian life, he joined Jimmy Dorsey's orchestra. Carroll also sang with other orchestras, including Charlie Barnet and Glenn Miller in the 1940s and Gordon Jenkins (for whom he recorded the hit " Charmaine" in 1951) in the 1950s. He is heard on the soundtrack of '' The Prowler'' (1951) singing "Baby". In 1957, his version of "Butterfly" on Bally Records made the charts peaking at No. 61 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Bobby Carroll
Robert Carroll (13 May 1938 – 11 May 2016) was a Scottish footballer who played for Celtic, St Mirren, Dundee United, Coleraine F.C., Coleraine and Queen of the South F.C., Queen of the South. He was Celtic's first ever goalscorer in European competition. Playing career Carroll provisionally signed for Celtic on 22 September 1957 from Scottish Junior Football Association, junior club Irvine Meadow XI F.C., Irvine Meadow, however he was left with Irvine Meadow for season 1958–59, during which he scored 75 goals resulting in him being voted Junior Player of the Year in 1959. On 15 May 1959, Bobby received his trophy at the George Cinema in Bank Street from the Provost George Donaldson and won the Scottish Junior Cup on 16 May 1959.
